This quaint little cafe hidden away underneath the Cathedral provides a great reprieve from the bustling streets of Edinburgh. Good, simple food that doesn't claim to be anything it's not. My sweet potato soup served straight from the Cauldron with little Oatcakes was warming, filling and served with a smile. I would recommend this charming little cafe for a quick refuel while exploring the city.
Everything is delicious. Everything my wife and I have tried at St. Giles' has been delicious - their specialty waffle with bacon & brie is amazing, the ciabatta sandwiches are tasty, the ham & cheese croissant was great, and they have the best lattes I've found in Edinburgh in a week of sampling. Even the interior of the building is visually pleasing; it's a really pleasing place to hang out, relax, and eat/drink well. Don't pass it up! The only inconvenience we found was a lack of high chairs for little kids, although that's not too surprising for a cafe and not a huge deal if you can leave the kid(s) in a stroller like we did.
Highly recommended if you're in Old Town Edinburgh!
Just had lunch here - soup and toasted sandwich. It was simple, but homemade and absolutely delicious! The service was excellent and the cafe has a great ambience! Absolutely recommended...a little gem just off the Royal Mile.
