I enjoyed my dinner here, but it wasn’t as wonderful as I expected based on reviews I had read. For one thing, when were seated, I was placed in an armchair that sat very low, and the table came up almost to my neck. I finally managed to get a server to help me change the chair. Some of the food was a bit spicier than we had thought it would be, but the ambience there was great. Lots of atmosphere in the decor. And it’s a wonderful location. I walked here from my hotel down on York Place, and it was a beautiful evening walk to get back.
I am only reviewing breakfast offerings. Overall, a good selection of breakfast items. It has a hot section with sausages, baked beans, eggs, and many of the standard British breakfast offerings. It also has a cold section with breads, cereal, bakery, and juices. I also took a look at the dinner menu and it looked good as well. Maybe next time.
It is the most fantastic restaurant in Edinburgh.
From the moment you arrive, you are greeted with lovely friendly staff. The waiter/waitress runs through the menu and makes suggestions, and offers advice on ordering dishes. They do say not to order more than three each, which you'd think was crazy, but it's so true! The flavours, the textures, and the visual display of the food will blow your mind.
