2 of us popped in for Sunday lunch
The food is very nice and the service was very good,
The only reason why I am not giving 5* is because we weren’t told dogs were allowed in the area we were sitting in. Today was a wet day, I had 4 large smelly dogs around me whilst we were finishing our food and they stank the place out.
Also the website does not say dog friendly.
Great Gastopub in New Town that was lovely for a Sunday lunch! Delicious haggis pops to start and a pork belly roast. Good selection of gin & wines. Also dog friendly. A pub that feels like it could be your local easily!

The Ox June 2015
This ox is firmly in the box
To start grilled new season asparagus for me, pork belly and langoustine scampi for The Man. The plates are attractive, but there is too much romesco sauce with mine, possibly trying to justify the price. £7.50 is far too much for asparagus and a fried egg. The pork belly and the langoustine scampi are as equally as lovely and moist as each other.
Mains next and of course one of us has to have the treacle marinated ox cheek, so The Man chooses guinea fowl breast and ballotine leg. Again there is loads of colour on the plates and I find myself appreciating the charming crockery.
