When your dining companion has just returned from a trip to Barra with tales of uber-fresh seafood, you hope that the evening’s restaurant of choice goes some ways to eradicating the green-eyed monster. Mercifully, Fishers in the City, a smart but relaxed eatery on Thistle Street, succeeded in showing that a city restaurant can deliver those fresh harbourside flavours.
I was craving for seafood so went to Fishers. Best choice! They seafood is really fresh and that garlic butter!!! Oh dear! They have my favourite muscadet sur lie wine as well that goes perfectly. Service was attentive and our waitress was really nice. I'll definitely will be back!
I was rejected twice here, coming without a booking and seeking for a table for 1. So third time lucky, got a table.
The place is cool, the setting feels homely and the decor with the books and the letter fish was interesting.
The menu is actually quite expensive, even for my budget and the only other thing i didn't like is the Polish waitress, Alexandra. Please smile and don't frown at me.
I ordered the fish soup, the orkney scallops with langoustines and a side chips. The soup was thick but still there was pieces of salmon and onions to give texture.
I fully enjoyed my main dish, although i should have ordered the lobster instead to save me some repeated effort. The scallops was tender and the dressing for the whole dish gave lots of flavors.
Lastly for dessert, i ordered the sticky toffee pudding, an old classic. It was actually a little too sweet for me and instead of ordering it with both ice cream and cream, go for just ice cream.
Ok forget the price problem, worth every penny.
