Having a meal at Yamazushi is a wonderful, and uncommon experience. The food style is Kaiseki, which is a multi-course meal served in stages just after preparation. The food ingredients are the finest available and appropriate for the season of the year. The service is very personal, and the food presentation is first rate. Everything, including the palate cleansing sorbet, were hand made. Meal seating is limited to 6 or 8 guests, so it is very intimate.
Both the food and serivce were exceptional. A great experience.
This place may be the greatest hidden gem in the Triangle dining scene. It's a penultimate convergence of experience, quality, service and flavor. If you want an authentic kaiseki dining experience outside of Japan, this is it!
Amazing food and amazing (authentic) experience. We had 8 courses with paired sake, and each pottery plate was hand made by the chef (individually unique). Food presentation was superb. We also had a Japanese matcha tea with a short ceremony by the chef's wife. Hands down one of the best cuisine in the entire RTP. PS: Reservation only (no walk-ins). With paired sake, tax, tea, and tip, cost runs ~$220/person but it was worth every penny.
