We sometimes call in for fantastic authentic Thai food. The Tom Yum soup was delicious and great value

The staff are extremely friendly and approachable. They're super helpful and patient as well. The shop is very spacious and sells a good variety of products. Their takeaway food is also amazing!

Extensive range of products with a great hot food/drink section. Some things can be a bit pricey but others are really affordable. Staff are always friendly - love going there.

We visit this little gem once a week and it never disappoints. However, todays Tom yum soup was absolutely exceptional, so delicious. Highly recommended you give it a go.

How wonderful to have an authentic Thai restaurant and supermarket in the centre of Durham.
The food is tasty and reasonably priced. You can also buy Thai curry paste, coconut milk and Kaffir lime leaves and make delicious authentic Thai curries at home.
There's one lady there in particular who speaks excellent English and is very helpful if you have any questions about the food/produce.

Awesome little place, pop up tables, very, very tasty food. Extremely reasonable prices, friendly staff, great drinks and has a little asian supermarket attached. Many of the local Asian community also eat here as well as the students so you know it is good.
Food is better tasting than Wagamama's and better priced. Fairly traditional noodle bowls and similar plus sides on offer.
Open Mon-Sat 9am - 7pm, Sun 10am - 6pm
Happy hour is 2pm - 4pm Monday to Thursday during this time you get a free non-alcoholic drink with your food.

I had lunch there today with my best friend.. only £10 for dim sum, chicken satay, beef dumplings and coke. It was amazing! The lady at the till even gave me some of the satay sauce to take home when i said how delicious it was. Im massively impressed and will be eating here again frequently!

Love this restaurant. Me and my family have been enjoying their food for years. From the outside it may not look like much but it is a hidden gem in Durham. The food they serve is cheap but delicious and all the employees are very nice and deliver the food fast. Absolutely no complains

We were having a really busy stressful day when we came across the Golden Pearl, so we were feeling a bit grumpy and hungry when they put these tiny portions in front of we were less than impressed. That change fast, we both ordered then Thai green curry (the chef's special) , we'd barely sat down when she brought it to us. Let me tell you it was the best curry we'd every had and boy was it filling we were both stuffed Mam had a jasmine tea and I had a pineapple juice and it came to only £9! brilliant service fantastic food at a fantastically cheap price, would recommend to anyone. And a quick note our portion was the smaller of two sizes.

Very reasonable for the money. The first meal I've enjoyed in Durham. The menu has a few constant items, but changes daily meaning there's lots of variety. The market section of the shop is also pretty great.
Note: they do accept credit card, however only on orders more than 10 pounds so it'd be wise to bring cash. The regular size portions of the daily specials are 3.95. They can be upgraded to a large or to include a beverage for an additional pound.

Love The Golden Pearl!
This Asian market has everything you need. Thai, Vietnamese, Chinese, Japanese - things from virtually everywhere. It is a lifesaver when you want to avoid the fake Asian grocery items at Tesco and want the real stuff. They even have a great freezer section with rare fruits/vegetables and things like fresh kaffir leaf and seafood. Aside from food they also sell things like rice cookers, woks, chopsticks, etc.
More recently Golden Pearl has also added a little cafe section with a menu serving mainly Thai food. They have a selection of usually 4-5 daily specials and a little seating area so you can seat and eat while reading a book or watching people walk down North Road. I would say this is definitely the best Thai food you are going to get in Durham. Sometimes some of the curries can be a bit broken, but each time I go here they seem to be getting better and better and really nailing things down.
