Great example of a proper pub. Good drink selection at great prices with very friendly and welcoming staff and regulars. Lots of entertainment on the weekends and happy hours through the week.

In answer to Richard Athertons post re the star & Garter. I was sitting at the the bar at the time of you entering the pub and I can assure you there wasn’t anyone smoking In the bar at all! There may have been someone using a VAP which is permitted ! I’m not sure how you would know if the tables were sticky as you didn’t even take a seat.!! You seem to be upset because the Star doesn’t sell real ale! And then to give a false and unwarranted review. Anyone who has read Richard’s reviews please treat it with the contempt it deserves and come and visit the pub as it is one of the best pubs in the town!
