Royal Crown Derby produce some of the finest China in the world. We were very fortunate to go on one of the factory tours, and were shown the manufacturing process. It was fascinating to meet the skilled crafts people at all levels of the operation. The friendly staff were only too pleased to explain what they were doing and obviously took great pride in their work.
We absolutely love Royal Crown Derby products and decided to book a private guided tour with the museum director, Elizabeth. There were beautiful pieces in the museum with interesting stories, which Elizabeth knowledgeably talked about. She was engaging and welcomed questions.
Highlight of the tour - getting to flip through a design book from the late 1800’s.
The reason for 4 stars and not 5 is because we feel the museum space was a little rundown and some investment in updating the room to display these works of art is required.
From reading other reviews, it looks like they used to do a factory tour, have a tea room and a shop pre-pandemic; unfortunately we didn’t have the pleasure. Hopefully you’ll bring them back!
Thanks Elizabeth for the tour and for making it special for us.
When I visit Royal Crown Derby to collect my items I’m always greeted with a smile from all the staff who work there. Jane, David, Anisha and Natasha are always happy to help - they are a great team.
I love visiting the cafe also as they do a great latte 👌
