Spent a beautiful day here on my own. Arrived at just after 10am on a Sunday, so it was quick and easy to get in and park. I took the long purple route first, round the lake and the outskirts of the estate, very nice route, clearly signposted. The tower and gardens are beautiful. It's like a maze of cobbled footpaths, flowers and fragrance everywhere you turn. Simply beautiful.
A wonderful place to visit. Beautiful gardens, outstanding architecture and unusual history. Cafe, gift shop and market garden selling produce. The Priest House property is available on site to stay in for short breaks and have the opportunity to walk around the gardens in peace and quiet.
Another wonderful National Trust property (gardens) well maintained, full of history which the guides bring to life.
I visited in September when the gardens were still full of late summer colour.
Sissinghurst Castle Garden was created by Vita Sackville-West, poet and writer, and her husband Harold Nicolson, author and diplomat. It is among the most famous gardens in England.
If you like NT properties and gardens, you won't be disappointed.
