Completely exceeded my expectations. I expected this place to be your regular gastropub, but then got a level of excellence which is rare to find around the Coventry dining scene! Huge congratulations, from the lovely staff to the next level food, I am very impressed. I ordered a fish and chips dish and got the poshest and one of the most impressively delicious fish and chips I’ve ever had! Worth every penny!
Well, I've never been to a pub with theatre seats before! We decided to give the GD a go after realising that Selmina's nearby was full. The food was gorgeous - intriguing and delicious. Locally sourced. Great service too, and they're happy to do kids' portions of items on the menu. The only catch was that our kids didn't like the 'differentness' of it, and we're sorry the owner looked a little defeated about that. They came round to the confit potatoes soon though, and couldn't get enough of them! The prices are so reasonable for the culinary standard. Better than a 2 Michelin starred place we'd tried a few years ago! We'll definitely be back, but maybe without the kids...
This was one of those happy occurrences where you think you’re going for a standard night out with friends & the food would be incidental.
We were talking about the food from the starters to the desserts. The chef here is very good. The lamb neck croquettes are sublime, as is the Pearl barley risotto. My hake was cooked perfectly.
The service was really good. Knowledgable, efficient, friendly, polite and witty. The restaurant space is beautiful.
I lived in Coventry for 38 years & moved back home 2 years ago. This is the best food I’ve had in Coventry.
Very highly recommend.
