I've been to this pub Quite a few times over the years but it's never been my regular. Its a Boozer stuck back in time and sits silently on the main Road going through the Quay with never any sign of life as the current landlord John keeps the curtains closed & Door locked @ all times!!! and to gain entry you must literally knock on the front window. Even then if he Doesn't know you or Doesn't like the look of you he won't let you in...its only a very select few that he allows inside, so it's not a pub for Just anyone to enter. Having said that he still manages to keep it running rather smoothly to be fair to him and seems to have enough select clientele to Just about keep the ship afloat and stop it from sinking!!! An arrogant man by nature John loves to hear his own opinions also to try to undermine anyone else's with his practised patronising words. He loves to smoke like a chimney on his Doorstep @ the main entrance of the pub resembling a Male version of Dot Cotton!!! He's not a bad man though tbh and you can have a Decent enough conversation with him once you get past his condescending nature. The ship is a pub that many meaning the vast majority won't even notice and the only regular clientele that Do are an interesting mix between the mentally unstable, the mentally challenged, alcoholics and Deluded fantasists who you'll find smoking in the smoking areas and propped up @ the Bar of Broken Dreams. If you want strange but authentic then the Ship is Definitely the place to visit!!!

Lovely, locally owned pub with a chill atmosphere and great selection of drinks. Fab poker game on a Monday. Two absolutely gorgeous dogs out back too :)

Nice little pub with excellent real ale at a good price. The Landlord has made the pub a very nice place to drink. I talked to the regulars whilst I was there and I was made to feel welcome.
