Absolutely fantastic!! Had booked a table for the evening after reading good reviews, but after catching the ferry back from Exmouth to Starcross decided to stop for a late lunch to try it out. The hubby and I shared the Landlords platter starter which was a mix of antipasti and seafood. It was really delicious, well presented and plentiful. We sat outside at a table overlooking the small harbour, couldn't have been more perfect .
When we went back in the evening my husband wasn't too happy with the small, cramped table they presented to us , but they moved us to the upstairs restaurant with minimum fuss , our meals were divine ( scallops in a spiced rum sauce for me , perfectly cooked steak for the hubby) and the dessert was just as good. Our waitress was delightful, if slightly scatty , which added to our amusement .The drinks were also reasonably priced. Overall , the best evening.
After being told they were fully booked (129 covers) we were offered a table upstairs to take our drinks to. Within 10 minutes we were offered menus and water for our table. The food was outstanding as was the service. Rosa our waitress was brilliant, very switched on. Would def recommend to others and return myself. Well done all the staff at the Anchor
The perfect pub, great views, great food, especially the sea food and baked Brie, after 6 years of visiting this wonderful little place it is very hard to beat, the service is excellent also, a real Devon Gem, miss it at your peril.
