I've lived this direction 20 years and never been here. Today we decided let's go give it a try, and boy were we pleased we did.
The menu has a great choice of things that works for adults and children.
The specials for that day were all good with a good home cooked pie. A seafood dish and a lamb shank curry with all the trimmings.
We had baby rack of ribs which was large, succulent and perfectly cooked. Beer battered fish of the day which was falling off the fork.. clean and beautifully fresh. Best fish in ages.
A burger with bacon and Monterey cheese which my son devoured like he hasn't eaten in a year and the lamb shank curry which was tender and falling off the bone. Every meal was packed with flavour.
For pudding we chose a cheeseboard and a gluten free chocolate brownie with ice cream. Again both beautifully presented, and packed with flavour.
All were very good prices and if I was to say anything they should be charging more for the calibre and standard of their meals.
The staff were more than helpful and nothing was too much trouble.
Its a little gem that is waiting to be discovered. Give it a go. You won't be disappointed.
Just been to the Nelson for my dads 65th bday meal. 12 of us including a couple of kids and everyone thoroughly enjoyed the meal. Great atmosphere in the restaurant and the bar. Waiter was top notch as was the food. The owner totally involved and really friendly. Will defo be back soon.
Have been here before with old and new management, always very friendly service. I ordered a meal that was off of the lunch menu in the evening, chef very kindly accommodated. Portion sizes are good, the desserts were delicious, with a gluten free option, was great.
