Historic pub serving good wholesome food. The 'flight of pies' (steak, chicken and mushroom, potato and leek) was filling but tasty. Welcoming staff.
What can I say... Fabulous, entertaining afternoon playing dominoes and drinking G&T! Lovely salmon salad followed by an amazing rhubarb and custard tart with cream... Omg.. Yummy! The friendliest of landlord and landlady you could ever wish to meet. Well done chef too for your achievements recently! Definitely be back when visiting from "Up T'North". 😊👍😉😘
Went for a Sunday roast. Had been meaning to try one here for some time. It was good. The meat was a little dry... Sides were good, and the beer was what I expected.
Service wasn't the best. Felt a bit ignored. For some reason there was confusion when we went to the bar to order more drinks for the table - like that particular act had never happened before.
Dining area was nice to sit in, but I've never understood an open kitchen. I don't need to see a chef doing his job (and you can't anyway when sat down below the level of the window), and you just end up leaving the pub smelling of food. Anyway, maybe that's just me.
