A Great Place for Food and Drink. The Haven Restaurant in Cellardyke is set overlooking the old harbour. It has a warm friendly welcome and the standard of food is one of the best in the area.
They seem to specialise in seafood but also offer a variety of good old traditional stuff such as Home made Steak and Ale pie, Roast Chicken Breast and homemade soup (all fresh and not frozen). I asked about the accompaniments to the meal and all are made fresh on the premises, from their Tartar sauce to their traditional Italian Pesto through to pepper sauce and Guacamole.
I can say that the Haven Bar and Restaurant in Cellardyke is well worth a visit and believe me when I say from fish to steak the quality and taste is gets a ten out of ten from me.
We visited this wonderful traditional pub/restaurant in late May during a hot sunny weekend and enjoyed the lovely atmosphere with food to match. A pile of excellent fish and chips and fresh fish cooked to perfection. What made this so memorable was the welcome we got from the owner. His son was running a marathon that day, in memory of his late wife/landlady/the lad's mum, (taken way too soon we learned), yet here we were, being cared for with such decency and care. We all lifted a glass, and donated to the cause.
Great food and great views of the paddle boarders. We had mussels with a great garlic cream broth, ox cheeks in a nice red wine au jus and roasted cod in a caper sauce. All well cooked and delicious
