Picked up a takeaway here tonight, tried a lot of Caribbean and african food outlets and first time with one on my doorstep, The Rocking chair.. Can't believe I missed this one! Great food guys well done.
I think they do baguettes in the daytime (which I will be back for!) 😁

Friendly and helpful staff, they can't do enough for you. Even though I didn't hear a single Caribbean accent, which I was looking forward to (missing it) these guys were so lovely.
The place is clean, comfy and welcoming. Tables are nicely spaced out for social distancing, it wasn't crowded. Music was good and set the ambience. You can see into the kitchen through a window and watch chef work his magic!
I was hesitant because many "Caribbean" restaurants, anglicise the food and ends up tasting unauthentic, but I was very pleasantly surprised with The Rocking Chair. It tasted so close to home, best I've had in Wales. I would just add, you should know Caribbean folk like a bit more gravy. 😁. I judge Caribbean restaurants by their jerk chicken, once they get that right I will try other dishes. Ital next for me!
I would definitely recommend, it ticks all the boxes. (Except please make more veggie and beef patties! 😂)
Tip: on the menu it just says "plantain", the whole plantain is sliced and fried. I was curious how many pieces, but it was enough to satisfy this fried plantain lover.
Another Tip:the takeout menu is cheaper than the dine in.
My friends and I had a fantastic night here. From the moment we walked in all the staff made us feel so welcome. The barman made us a special Caribbean cocktail 🍹which was so good. We headed here before a big night out so also had some food. Soul in a bowl. Delicious. Food and drinks were so reasonably priced. Music was great too. We felt like we were on holiday. We danced and laughed the whole time we were there. Thanks so much to all the staff who work together to make this place great. We will be back for sure and next time we will bring all our friends. Xx
