Would love to give this 5 stars, but sadly I can't. The main issue is value for money. This is a very expensive place to stay, and for the price you expect excellence. And this was very good, but not excellent. Room was showing its age, particularly the bathroom. Bed was uncomfortable. Check in, etc was slightly amateur, food was good, but not excellent. However the staff were incredibly friendly and helpful, the location is superb, and our weekend was peaceful, which is what we wanted.
We stayed here during our wedding. We married at another local venue. The Devonshire couldn't do enough to make our time as special as possible. They upgraded us to the suite and ensure we had everything we needed. A special mention to Nikki who went above and beyond! Thanks again
We have just spent two nights at this hotel, what a pleasure it has been. From our arrival to our departure, the staff were excellent, the service impeccable and the feel good factor was high. We went with friends and found the hotel after some of the party spent time in the spa at the sister hotel. Our room was large, clean and the facilities were excellent. Unfortunately we hadn't brought our guns, so the safe was largely redundant! We ate at the hotel both nights and the food was lovely, from the broccoli soup, the scotch salmon qualis egg to the Cod and Pork Belly it was all delicious, gracious service with a smile was standard. The highlights for us was the very young man who brought us canapes and served us on the first night. For such a young bloke, obviously learning his trade, he made us smile, thank you.
We will be coming back as the location is great for getting around, the village is a short walk and the local walks along the river are a treat. Thank you Devonshire Fell.
