A lovely old wharf , barn and cottage have been renovated here to a high standard set on the Liverpool to Leeds canal . We were told that to meet heritage standards of a listed building , everything had to be repaired or replaced using materials that were available back when the buildings were built , even down to the putty used to house the window frames . With that in mind , what a glorious job they have done . The accommodation we stayed in , the turner suite was so inviting! With a lovely old stone fireplace and super modern bathroom which despite being set inside a cottage hundreds of years old was befitting of its surroundings. Needless to say , we had a wonderful stay here including watching the sun set out on the canal side with a drink from the bar / restaurant out of the converted wharf . Hats off to the owners who have obviously put a huge amount of time and money into this venue . Needless to say we felt we didn’t stay there long enough and it was a shame to leave
This is a wonderful project for the historical enthusiasts of the canals. The wharf has been refurbished with a pub, restaurant, guesthouse, wedding venue, visitor's centre, and a biodiversity garden. Moorings make the project very accessible from road or canal.. With plenty of parking and room for 3-4 boats, this place is a secure, safe mooring in Burnley. The gates are locked at night, and Lee will issue a key if needed. Lee is an Army veteran and offers discounts to fellow veterans.
We host a stay & play group in the private function room at Finsley Gate Wharf every Wednesday morning. It is a fantastic space for any event. The room is beautifully decorated with a private bar and a big window with beautiful views overlooking the canal. The staff are all amazing and we wouldn’t want to host our stay & play group anywhere else! Thank you
