Budleigh Salterton has a large range of coffee houses and lunch stops. We choose the Gingerbread House and were really glad we did.
The place prides itself in providing local produce of the highest quality. Its map of local suppliers takes up one whole wall of the cafe. It seems to be worth the effort based on the quality of the food.
For lunch my husband opted for cheddar cheese sandwiches, he loved the fresh bread and the strong cheese which provided a good kick to the palette.
I went for the Moroccan Lamb pasty. This had large chunks of lamb, carrot and potato inside the pasty, the Moroccan element from the wonderful sweet and spicy flavour of Ras el hanout cooked through the meat and veg – really lovely.
Our coffees were an americano and a latte.
Based on our experience we would definitely return here again and would strongly recommend it to others.
Thus cafe is very nice but was really quiet when we visited. The young lady was very chatty and we met her new puppy. We both had drinks and cakes (they were lovely).
Visited New Year's day and had a bowl of freshly made soup and a sausage sandwic, food was great, coffee and hot chocolate great, sadly there were only two in the bar, (again appreciate it was NYD) don't get me wrong we were glad they were open, however this meant the service was slow and as it was busy that made the wait a little less enjoyable and people queued around or seating. Good the the Ginger Bread but not great for us hence being slightly down graded, definitely worth popping in though :)
