Brilliant bread and lovely people... small range of things but all delicious. Cinnamon buns and sourdough v. good but don't miss their focaccia which is amazing and begs to be eaten as soon as you get it home (or sooner if you can't wait!).
This little bakery sits at the top of the hill in Totterdown, near the TESCO shop. I have been a patron for the past few months and have sampled the bread and cakes so beautifully baked at this friendly establishment.
My favourite is the focaccia loaf. It has a lovely crust, which varies in colour from burnt sienna to a lovely golden honey hew and is coated with slivers of potato, and the herb of the day... my favourite being the chilli flake and sea salt. It is bread that you want to tear apart with your hands with a chewy texture and outer crust...quite the best bread I have eaten for some time.
They also produce a chocolate brownie that would not be out of place in an upmarket restaurant, rich smooth texture and deep chocolate flavour, very rich but oh so scrumptious.
Best crossaints in Bristol, the freshest and most buttery I've tasted outside of France. Usually can't choose between chocolate or plain so get both, it's just easier that way.
