Always a lovely place with good choices on tap and friendly staff - also the best pub dog in Bristol!
I organised something here a month ago and after just a mention to the bar staff the day before we arrived to reserved tables in a section of the pub! Lovely service :)
I was wondering down Whiteladies road on a Sunday evening and this pub was one of the few places that looked open and serving food. I wasn't certain I'd want to go in, as I could see the rugby flags and a large video screen showing sports, and I don't usually go into sports pubs. However, I could see LGBTQ pride flags from outside, so I felt reassured. The inside is quite roomy, plenty of space to move about, and busy but not too crowded on a Sunday night. Best of all, the music is low key and not too loud, and the video screen is muted, so it's quiet and peaceful inside. (I don't know if this is the case on other nights but on Sunday it's great.) They have a limited menu - just pizzas - but they are tasty and actually pretty large for a single person; one pizza could easily feed two quite happily. Currently offering "Pizza and a Pint" for £12, not a bad deal this end of Clifton. The bar is small but stocks a really nice selection of good quality spirits, enough to cater to just about any taste, and the amber ale 'Bob' is absolutely delicious. Bartender was quick, slick, and very friendly and welcoming. There are clearly a number of regulars as she spoke with many people with great familiarity. All in all a great ambience, nice little find on a Sunday evening in an area I don't often frequent!
Served beer and had sports channels. Was day time so cant say about atmosphere but my son goes there to watch the football.
