Lovely pub for a mid afternoon drink and a sit by the fire. The staff were pretty friendly but there’s no old school landlord vibes here, so maybe not for you if that’s what you’re looking for; at the Cambridge it seems a bit more craft ale and modern tones.
I guess their menu and everything must be fairly tightly controlled by the Fuller’s brewery, so if that’s your thing then you’re in!
Any criticism? It was a chilly afternoon and quite chilly in the pub, which is why we sat in front of the open fire. As with so many pubs establishments, the staff need to understand that sitting is not the same as working and that customers will stay longer if they’re not cold. If not for this I would give 5 stars.
Another superb visit. I can now confirm the food was very, very good. Dogs also welcome and a lovely couple of pints of hophead. Excellent value.
Cannot comment on food but a great selection of ales. Lovely staff and very child friendly. Have a large grassed garden. Been over 15 years since last visit, will be going again very soon. Dogs allowed on a lead.
Food wasn't outstanding but was very nice wholesome pub grub. Atmosphere could be improved with music. Service was very good however. Will go again, very relaxed vibes and lovely staff, don't rule this one out. Could be improved with more attention to the beer garden - could be regular live music / comedy venue / better landscaped or planted.
