It a bad place but bit chilly for us sorry to say. I had the pie which was ok but not amazing but lots of it and large portion of chips.

I can't comment on food and hospitality as the pub was closed upon our arrival 'on spec' (googling for opening is suggested to avoid disappointment), this pub which is located at the boundary crossroads between Shropshire and Staffordshire. This makes it an important place for students of British medieval history as it was a location known to the Welsh hero Owain Glyndwr and Iolo Goch in the 15th century (and possibly Myrddin earlier), as a sacred spot mentioned in Welsh prophecy. It was to be the place where he intended to confront the English, fulfil the ancient Welsh prophecies and establish a boundary between a greater Wales and England. So it gets 5 stars from me for location alone. 👍

Went for a date night with the hubby. It was grill night. Hubby had steak I had the poachers wife chicken. Absolutely wonderful, real chunky chips cooked to perfection. Would definitely recommend. Lovely atmosphere. Well worth 2 for £20

Was tempted to stop yesterday and stayed in the beer garden which has been done up nicely. Unlike some other pubs I have been to lateley they are complying to the Covid-19 requirements, have a sanitiser upon entry, offer table service and take your contact details before they serve you. Disappointing was the choice of Lager which was Carling only and I would suggest to change the menu and offer some more typical pub type snacks such as steak sandwiches or a choice of baguettes/sandwiches.
