This is a review of the summer pop up - lovely location to have a lunch on a sunny day. Went there with a couple of friends. The food is good, the platter could be better in terms of quantity. The pulled beef in brioche bun was top.
Great coffee stop by the Brentford Riviera. "The best oat flat I've had in the borough," said my husband in a quote that wouldn't have been out of place over on "Overheard in Waitrose".
Sadly we arrived too late to claim a pastry (they told us they were still getting used to planning for the right levels of traffic, which vary massively depending on the weather), but just in time for Ruben's Reubens' BBQ takeover to fire up. A plate of lamb shoulder, chicken thigh and sausage later (plus a delicious charred hispi cabbage which aforementioned husband also called the "best vegetable side he'd had all year") and our hunger abated.
Once The Brentford Project is complete and you no longer feel surrounded by construction works, this place will be packed from morning til dusk every weekend. Try it out before that happens.
I'm a regular visitor to Rye By The Water, a delightful bakery in Brentford, West London, and I have to say that it's one of my favourite places in West London. As someone who loves fresh baked goods, I can confidently say that they serve some of the best croissants in London.
🥐 The croissants are light and flaky, with a perfect buttery taste that melts in your mouth. The ham and cheese croissants are a must try for anyone who likes a savoury treat that is moreish and indulgent. The baguettes and sourdough loaves are excellent.
I wish they made chaussons aux pommes (hint 🙏)
What sets Rye By The Water apart from other bakeries, however, is not only the quality of the baked goods, but also the friendly staff and relaxed atmosphere. The bakery's location, in a lovely oasis just off the main road by the river, is also a big plus, as it offers a beautiful view and a peaceful escape.
I would highly recommend Rye By The Water to anyone looking for quality baked goods, friendly staff and a laid back atmosphere. It's truly a hidden gem in Brentford. Will be back and back again.
