I've been really impressed by this place!
I've been there with my girlfriend, we where looking for a nice place to discover during the eat out help out and after a long walk we've found Funchal by Night.
It's a family business, well organized and very welcoming, but the thing that surprised me the most is the amazingness of the food, as a freshness, quality and perfect preparation.
We started with cocktail prawns, and the cocktail sauce was perfect and not the already made one that you'll find everywhere! Was really creamy and fresh! After that I took the 8oz steak with mushrooms cream... And I've been in haven for exactly 20 minutes! The mushrooms cream was stunning, mixed with the rice on the side! Unbelievable! And the meat was exactly how I asked! Perfect! Chips and rice comes with the dish and the price is absolutely fine with the product! Other places will charge you double or either triple for a plate like that!
My girlfriend took the tuna steak with seafood and tomato sauce and was amazing as well! The seafood where fresh and so well cooked that where melting in the mouth... Squid, octopus and mussels! And the tuna steak was perfect! Is not so easy to make taste the tuna soft and not dry and they did it! Amazing! Hands up for the chef!
All the desserts where home made and there where perfect like the rest of the dinner! I took a typical Portuguese creme caramel and my girlfriend a dark chocolate cake topped with sprinkles of coconut... The fact that there's no photos of that will let you understand how much we like !
I'm quite fussy person and I don't do compliment so easily! But this place make me feel like home! Where the food is genuinely good and the vibes are friendly!
We will come back there for sure! And you should do the same!
Had a delicious dinner.
Grilled tuna with seafood and grilled salmon are amazing. Peach nectars are the best!
Friendly staff. Not expensive. Authentic Portuguese meals. Recommended.
After not being able to go on a summer holiday to Portugal this year, a visit to Funchal By Night definitely made up for it whilst on our holiday to Bournemouth instead. The waitress was lovely and friendly and the food was really delicious and generous portions. We had the pork and beef espetada and the seafood risotto. Then for dessert had the passionfruit cake and a caramel egg cake (forgot what it was called!) A shame that we only came here on our last night as we’d happily come again!
