It was a Thursday lunch time when I visited. It was quiet with only four or five other customers. I was served quickly by friendly staff. The cheese scone and cake were good as was the coffee. The prices were reasonable making it reasonable value for money. Free WiFi was available, always a plus. Quite nice smart rustic decore, if that is not a contradiction. There is also an outside area to sir. I feel a bit mean 'only" giving it four stars; my head says it deserved five but my heart stopped giving it the full quota of stars.
I have visited several times since my first visit, the latest in January 2022. In this latest visit I had a cherry frangipane tart and it was sublime; a nice crispy crust, soft frangipani, plenty of succulent cherries and a delicious pastry base. For this reason I have increased my initial 4-star review up to five.
July 2022 - still great.
June 2023 - still just as good.
September 2023 - still great.
The food tasted so good and had interesting menu choices which I loved! Unfortunately my first two choices weren't available. Hoping next time they will be! I'll definitely recommend anyone to go here for a lovely plate of food
We had a wonderful Friday night dinner as well as Saturday afternoon tea at The Stove recently. I would definitely recommend it for a standard buffet as well as for its cakes, brownies etc.
