I have always loved this pub and I’ve said before it is my favourite pub in Suffolk.
We have been wanting to come again since the pub has had a change in ownership and I’m thrilled to say it is still my favourite pub in Suffolk. Not that I should have doubted my opinion changing because new owners had taken over, but sometimes change can be bad, in this instance change is very very good, indeed.
The pub still has the same beautiful charm it always had and a welcoming and inviting ambience. The staff were so helpful and attentive.
The menu has had a refreshing uplift (whilst I loved the menu previously, I have to say this one had that little bit extra). So many inviting food choices and I loved that on the mains you could opt for a smaller size where you can then squeeze in a pudding and even a starter. It was perfect for my gran who doesn’t like being over faced with food.
The food menus change regularly, everything is completely fresh and made to order with a huge emphasis on home grown. Even the mayonnaise was homemade... and it was delicious.
I ordered the pork burger, a thick, mouthwatering and fulfilling burger, with bacon and Monterrey Jack cheese, served with thick and crispy, yet fluffy chips. Others in our party had steak which was asked to be cooked blue, which they did and perfectly. The special of the day which was the pork belly, which was beautiful and the meat very tender and a small portion of sausage and mash.
The food was absolutely delicious, plentiful portions and beautifully served. I can’t believe I have waited so long to come back! I loved the food here and the pub before and I love it even more now.
Can’t wait for our next visit.

This has to be my favourite pub in Suffolk! It's everything you want a pub to be! Roaring fire, cosy and welcoming, old and historical, amazing food and good beer/wine/cider!! Plus they love dogs!
It's the type of pub where you can enjoy a fabulous meal and end up having one too many drinks because you have forgotten the world outside its doors!!!
We will be back again soon!
Had a beautiful family evening here. Beautiful pub with lovely little play bit outside along with the animal bit. The pigs are so friendly and funny. Our little boy loved it.such a friendly family environment.Had a beautiful meal in the dining area next to a beautiful snug.staff were efficient friendly and the service and meal was amazing. I'd highly recommend this pub and we shall be returning again.
Dropped in for a couple of beers en route to Wenhaston. Great pint with friendly and efficient service and the menu was excellent. Sadly, we'd already made plans for lunch but the pub was soon quite busy with lots of covers. Judging by the food that appeared this was not a surprise. Will be eating there in future but highly recommended for a swift pint anyway.
