Ate there after a freezing cold day at Alice Holt Forest, looking for good ale and hot comfort food. We weren’t disappointed. Starters of fried calamari, and smoked salmon & prawn cocktail were good if not mind blowing but the mains of beef brisket cottage pie, venison & ox cheek suet pie, and a kids sausage and mash were absolutely spot on. Exactly what we were hoping for and almost certainly the best pub meal we’ve had in a while.
A great selection of beers, well poured, and the first time I’ve ever seen Fullers Damson Porter Ale anywhere. So good I drank it twice.
Staff were friendly and attentive and the food came quickly - a bonus when you have an energetic 21 month old waiting to eat.
Highly recommended.
Came for tea yesterday, have to say this place is a hidden gem. Food was amazing, I live about 50 minutes away, but will 100% be making the journey back. Also a good little selection of Gins. Overall lovely! 😊
Had a lovely evening with family. The food was excellent and very tasty. There were 5 of us and we had three courses and all had different and there were no complaints about any of it. I am not usually a desert person but their treacle tart and salted caramel ice cream was to die for! Staff were very friendly and the service was excellent.
