Pinchos is a lovely tapas bar & cafe about 3 minutes from Colmore Row,and well worth that stroll. With a few tables outside and more inside, you can relax and watch the world go by.
We had a friendly welcome and were offered a choice of tables. The menu is typical tapas but more than enough choice. The dishes aren't huge so go for 3 per person, they have a mix and match of 3 hot or 3 cold.
The meatballs were in a lovely sauce, rich and thick, and the tortilla was light but dense (I know that doesn't make sense so go and try it!). The ham with figs was super, good meat with sweet fruit and a syrupy drizzle, really nice combination.
Draught beer was really good, cold and crisp, slightly sweet but very drinkable, as was the rioja.
Almond cake at the end was really tasty, just the right level of sweet, and a good coffee. It troubles me how so many coffee chains serve up rotten coffee, this was bang on.
In summary, under £50 for 2 people, tasty food, drinks, dessert and coffee at a clean friendly cafe, what's not to like?
Located in a tough business area with Fazenda right round the corner, Pinchos has some seriously top competition, it stands shoulder to shoulder with them.
Although the chef is an Aussie he can seriously cook Spanish tapas.
Absolutely top of the range food, great wine and fantastic staff.
09/01/20 Absolutely stunning food and wine. The waiters were really friendly and attentive. We were with a pregnant woman who asked for a mocktail and they created one just for her. Just on the limit of value for money but will definitely go again.
Update 08/02/20
Went again, Dwayne, Francesco and Alvaro(sorry if I spelt your name wrong) were amazing. Attentive at just the right amount. The food was absolutely stunning again and the old fashioned's (one with makers mark and one with monkey shoulder) were perfectly done. Definitely a regular place now.
