Stopped here for lunch with two friends and found they do a pretty good burger. The Stables pub is in the middle of Danson Park in Bexleyheath. The park is on an old estate with a big country house and lake. The large stables building has been converted at some point, I know not when, into a pub restaurant. The building itself is beautiful, grade 2 listed and built in the 1700s. It's also a great spot to come if you have a family, as there is an impressive modern playground nearby, with sprinklers to run around under in the hot weather and loads of space for the kids. I ordered the emmental and bacon beef burger with fries while my friends had a chicken burger and a grilled chicken breast with chorizo and smoked bacon salad. I found the burger a substantial 7oz and from a good, tasty mince. The brioche bun was nicely part-toasted and it came with a small pot of tomato and jalapeno relish. The melted cheese was very tasty and thick with a big slab of beef tomato. Really nice! The fries on the other hand were not great. They seemed over-cooked, a little too dark and hard, and despite that were nonetheless not that hot. You can get sweet potato fries with your meal, as one of my acquaintances did, and they seemed to be a bit better. But overall not enough attention paid to the chips. My friend's chicken burger was fine and the chicken salad was received well and looked great with toasted thick-cut, rustic bread on the side, plenty of fresh greenery and a generous portion of grilled chicken. The Stables is in a really nice location, and it's especially good in the beer garden at the front on a sunny day. I give them high marks for their beef burger and the cost is reasonable too, about £10-£12 a head, depending on what you're drinking. Worth a look if you haven't been.
Lovely and friendly staff, nice venue within the park, we celebrated my sisters engagement here with an afternoon tea. Staff looked after us well and ate lots of lovely sandwiches and cakes!

This park is Lovely! There is a big green area to walk through as well as some trails. The playground is really nice an it has aquatoys in it. For the ones who wants to spend the day, you can find nice meals and beer on the Pub which is inside the park. The lake is beautiful and my favourite part was the old English garden, just beautiful!
