Had a fabulous birthday meal with 25 people in rear room. All served at the same time, vegan and vegetarian food very well cooked. All the staff very patient with us as we often blocked up the corridor to the kitchen. Surprise birthday desserts provided for the the 3 birthday girls. Also allowed us all to pay separately. THANK YOU for making our night so special!

Had a meal last Saturday with my wife and we were treated like royalty. The staff were so friendly and the food was to die for in a warm cosy environment with great ambience. Highly recommended
We visited this pub twice whilst on holiday as the food was so good! Staff friendly. Dogs welcome. A lovely atmosphere. Would highly recommend visiting this pub. Only downside is that we live in Norwich. We wish this was our local!
A lovely stop midway for the 1066 walk between Pevensey and Rye, would certainly recommend to other walkers. The owner was helpful, room ideal (had a bath to soothe the aches) and food acceptable (though could have been a little more generous portion size...a smear of pea or five fine beans, though the fish and pork were well prepared). Would be better if breakfast were a set price for guests, and the cafetiere in the room too small for two coffees...but when these were the niggles, not much wrong!
Food was very good. I really enjoyed the steak a d chips. The waitress was friendly and polite. The chap behind the bar wasn't particularly enthusiastic to see us but perhaps he'd had a bad day.
The food and menu were truly excellent. Gourmet standard. Service was quick and friendly. Hardly any wait time on the food. Definately will dine there again

Lovely vibe with dog friendly and human friendly staff. Adequate car park a bonus. Variety of seating areas and dining tables ditto.

We had the chicken, portobella steak and squash wellington and desserts. Everything was really fresh, clearly home made and well seasoned. The best restaurant food all of us had in a long time. Great vegan options as well.
Called in for lunch and was pleasantly surprised, not a pub I would have necessarily made a beeline for on a miserable Saturday afternoon, but the staff were super friendly and attentive and the food was excellent - reasonably priced too 👍🏼 Would recommend 😊
What a lovely Inn. Steeped in history and came with all of the things we expected, creaking floors and amazing historical artifacts. The staff were amazing and looked after us. Lauren served us breakfast every morning which was lovely and Ella and Tracey looked after us in the bar in the evening. Thanks ladies. Had an amazing sirloin steak meal thanks to the chef. The room was clean and comfortable and warm. We will definitely be back. We had a lovely relaxing break. Thank you. 10/10
Just come back from a Sunday roast. All 5 of us were excited to see every roast options under the sun compared to many other places that only offer a small section of choices. Cheques had Lamb, pork , beef chicken and vegetarian options available. Service was swift and and relaxed. Just what you need on Sunny wintery afternoon. Well and truly stuffed…. Lovely!
