We stayed at The Royal and ate here. Pleasant food and good service.
Nice enough hotel bar/restaurant. Sometimes have to wait a while to get served however the bar staff are friendly and welcoming. They have a good selection of lagers and wine. Serve hot drinks as well as soft drinks. Food is typical pub grub so nothing outstanding. Prices are decent. Location is good as well. Interior decor is very comfortable well maintained.
The food here is really good. We ate here two days on the trot.
The service is great, with lots of nice touches, eg an offer of water for the table and an explanation that the lamb will come pink. If like me you are not a fan of pink lamb you then have the option of asking for it a bit more well done.
The pea risotto is beautiful, the lamb rump exceptional and the rib eye steak very tender.
As for puddings, the Eton mess is dreamy.
This place is well worth a visit.
