I heard a lot about this place so I decided to finally try it. There was a bit of queue outside but it moves very fast. We only waited few minutes. The interior seems quite small but there’s plenty of space inside. We were seated on the second floor. We tried the Sally Lunn’s bun with clotted. Mine was with the cinnamon which was very good. My husband had just the clotted cream and jam. The bun is huge so you can easily share for two. We had one for each and we ate everything fine. It was very good though quite simple. It’s a must do if you’re in Bath.
Visited with my girlfriend as a finale to a 3 day birthday weekend. I had visited Bath previously with my father but he was much to impatient to queue for this in the middle of the day.
Lady & I visited of an early evening so fell within scope of the dinner menu.
I had the Braisee Beef & Mushroom Trencher, she had the savory pie of the day, Lamb.
Both dishes were an enjoyable dinner before our long drive home. Vegetables, meat, bread & pastry were served in a charming dining room. The food itself was like a home cooked comfort food meal. A worthwhile visited for historical importance & local culinary fare in Bath.
Really enjoyable afternoon meal here at Sally Lunn's Bun Shop. The building is super old and has lots of history. **they have gluten and dairy free scones and a gluten free brownie that is delicious** so if you don't eat bread you can still enjoy a great afternoon tea here. The buns are huge and they have an assortment and sweet or savory toppings, soups, scones and desserts. Several tea options, the house blend was really nice. It was getting a little busy and you have to ask for refills if you need anything but otherwise all of ladies working were very nice. I would recommend coming here for a great historical experience in Bath and the food is great.
