We went to Arthur's Retreat campsite Hepworth in our motorhome and decided to bike down to the Royal George at Barningham as it was the closest pub. I'm glad we did because we had a lovely meal there. The pub is a beautiful old building with beams and a lovely fireplace. The land lady was very welcoming as were the other staff . I had read in other reviews that things were a bit rushed ... not in our case though. We had a couple of drinks prior to ordering and then went to our table. The menu was extensive and although the focus was definitely on fish and sea food, there was also an additional menu with meat options .
We went for a prawn cocktail and a crayfish starter which were both lovely . We then had a large portion of cod and a sirloin steak. The steak was fabulous and the option of new potatoes in place of the chips was a nice touch. My husband loved the cod and said the batter was very light.
We weren't going to have a dessert but gave in to temptation... I had a meringue with fruit and ice cream and my husband had a chocolate and coconut cheesecake which he enjoyed.
All in all we really enjoyed the meal, the welcome from the staff and the friendly atmosphere and would most definitely return

Wonderful relaxed evening!
What a really charming old pub, great menu including some lovely fresh fish.
We all felt very welcomed and there was hardly anything left on the plates 😋 good portions, good value and very much looking forward to returning.
Well worth a visit, garlic mushrooms are as good as I've ever tasted.

Fantastic lunch, great service. Highly recommended if you are in the area.
They also do a lovely pint of the Irish. (Guinness)
