Called in for a drink while out walking.
Beautiful pub & really warm & welcoming bar with real fire, real candles & fresh flowers on the tables, all score mega brownie points with me, very civilised!
Excellent range of beers & gins.
Refurbished to a high standard in country style with high quality fabrics.
Even the toilets were very smart and immaculate!
Drinks served by a very pleasant barman.
Will definitely go back, probably to stay and definitely to eat there.
Great pub in a lovely location, shame there was no food.
Came for a meal and wow what a meal. Food was amazing, the menu was good with a few choices. The food for me was the best I’ve had. Thank you for such a great experience. Also thank you to team who were really friendly and service was top notch.
Lovely friendly pub. Stunning environment and welcoming. I have given a 4 star only because there is no room for customers who just want a drink. Tables were all for food only. This was on a Sunday though.
A super little pub!
A Sunday evening encounter for us. Booked in as we were staying at Askham Hall for a few days and this village pub is part of the Askham Collection.
A lovely cosy atmosphere with a nice mix of locals and visitors.
Welcoming waiting staff serving some good locally sourced food. All at a reasonable price point.
PB 👍🏻
Went for an evening meal in July during a short summer break. Food was a step above and clearly there is passion within this business to provide a memorable meal. Would definitely recommend. I had the fish of the day which was delicious.
We stayed midweek for one night to enjoy the evening Posh Grubbers menu. From the minute we walked through the door Lucas looked after us. We were able to register and put the bags in the room, before 1pm. After our walk he served us really nice beer and then was the main man for the dinner service. The food was excellent, we ate every single bit, and would have it again. The room was very comfortable and had been recently refurbished to a very high standard, even the cookies on the tray were homemade. Breakfast was also very nice, certainly good enough to charge yourself for a day in the fells, and plenty of tea, coffee and orange juice. All in all, this is a great pub, in an idyllic Lakeland village - we will be back. A big thanks to Lucas, he was a great host. Geoff Durham City
Pub with attached fine-ish dining area. The menu was inventive, locally inspired, and technically well executed. Plenty of attractive options in the menu. We enjoyed the fact that the portion sizes were not too large, leaving room for all the courses. 😊 We enjoyed the option to share an extra cheese course between us for £10. Super selection of wines by the glass, and bottles. The service was fine; the staff were all enthusiastic and willing, but a couple will benefit from more experience.
Really enjoyed the 3 course menu, wine pairings weren't mentioned but wine list good. Added the cheese board on which was delicious!
I booked a table at the queens head Askham for Sunday lunch a very helpful receptionist by the name of Katie took my booking she was friendly and very efficient I was sent a confirmation e mail to say the booking was made. Our sunday lunch was delicious and beautifully presented we dined in the bar which was very tasteful and comfortable I would certainly return. The staff in the queens head were lovely. Five stars all round.
