Lovely patisserie, the millefeuille, tarts and croissant/pain au Chocolat were all so good!! Was disappointed there were no strawberry tarts on this occasion but delicious alternatives were pear and almond or lemon tart. Great as a birthday treat with a bon cafe!
The best patisserie in town. Worth every single calorie! It's one of my favorite places to go for bakeries. Croissant and éclair are so good!! The owner is very friendly and kind. I'm so happy that I've found this place.
Update 27/10/2023 -- I am very sad to say that the new owners of this space reported that Jean Marie, the owner of La Gourmandise, had passed away. This business is now a very nice Turkish pastry shop, and they are continuing to make some French pastries to continue the tradition.
Original Review: This is an excellent French patisserie that easily beats out any of the ones we went to when we lived in Edinburgh and Glasgow. The croissants and pains au chocolat taste like the best ones we had when we lived in Paris and the éclairs are honestly phenomenal. The galettes des rois are divine (with a real fêve!) for the Epiphany in January (a seasonal specialty well worth trying if you're not French and don't know about it)! And it's not just the sweets that are good -- we are thankful to have someone in Aberdeen who makes a proper baguette. It's worth noting that you should try to get there early to get the best selection, and that it's now only open on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday.
