Second visit to York, pick a random place, ended up at the Hippo, very accommodating, food was beautiful! It's definitely worth a visit!

Wow! This place is just awesome. Great drinks, super food and it's a fair price for central york. 1700 to 1800 is 3 courses for £20. And you get a lot for your money.

We went for the lunchtime burger deal which was good value. The sauces/dips were incredible! The burger was a bit dry and could’ve done with more sauce. But the wings were 10/10 wish I could’ve tried them all.
We came in just for a small bite and a beer or two on a Saturday evening. The service is a bit slow - we waited a while to place out orders and even longer to get the bill (finally went up to the counter to pay).

We’ve had a great time the other day! The staff was incredibly friendly and kind - especially to our dog. The food was delicious and they had a selection even for vegans. The food is alright but not great. We had frickles and dirty tots to start with, both really nice, followed by two vegan burgers - one chicken style, the other beef style. One burger was way to sweet (I think it was the sauce) whereas the other was tasty but too dry. Chips could’ve used more salt. T

Our second visit to Fat Hippo and I’m afraid to say, not as good as the first.
Perhaps it was lunch versus dinner that caused the quality to slide ever so slightly. We booked for 6:00 p.m and after a small wait in a busy reception area (of sorts) we were shown to the high tables next to the windows
