Lovely place, food is on point, small plates, fresh, tasty and relaxed. Great views of the Minster. Don’t get me started on the wine, great selection of rare stuff. And the staff are exemplary. Lovely people, know their stuff about wine. An all round world class little visit. Could’ve stayed all day. Hannah was world class. A real asset. Get yourselves down.
Just an incredible place. Went along after a recommendation from a friend (and reading about it in the Guardian) and wasn't disappointed. It's a wonderful place to drink, chat, eat and just simply enjoy yourself.
Nothing was too much trouble for the staff, despite us being a walk in on a busy night. Stunning food, and even better wine. So good, I forgot to take a photo until we got outside.
Walking by this chic wine bar cafe the Restaurant Week special sign caught my eye, especially Cassoulet! Had the miso glazed mackerel, courgette, white bean porchetta cassoulet and several glasses of wine ;). Unique wines on the special board. I enjoyed the service, food and wine so much I came back a second lunch out of 3 days in York. Excellent service!
What a find! We visited on a Sunday evening and so were treated to some lovely jazz to go with our amazing food and wine.
There is a huge selection of wines by the glass, something for every taste and budget. In addition to the main list, there are also a number of 'bin ends' to choose from, displayed on the walls around the place to browse through (feel free to ask them for some advice to help you choose).
The food is simply devine too! There's plenty of choice from both small and larger plates to share, so we kept grazing in exploration of the menu with our extended wine flight. The duck fat potato pavé was probably our dish of the night, but we also loved the tempura tenderstem broccoli, padron peppers, parmesan gnocchi, and the mackerel. Everything was perfectly cooked and deliciously packed with flavour!
The staff are just lovely. Hannah and Lottie were so friendly and knowledgeable and really made our evening. Brings to mind the phrase "arrive as guests, leave as friends".
We will certainly come back anytime we're in York, and only wish it wasn't so far from home!
This place is fabulous - well attentive staff who were very friendly and helpful, the food was amazing, especially recommend the tempura beans and broccoli (YUM) and the hommous ! A huge range of wines, with most sold by the glass so I could try lots 😉- on Sunday evenings we were treated to a jazz duo - piano and double bass - wow ! - they were terrific - wish I knew there name so I could give them a plug - keep up the great work 22 Yards -your on a winner ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️
A great find. This is a lovely wine bar with a fantastic selection and concept. The service was brilliant. It was our first time visiting and felt welcomed. The host took time to explain the set up and answer questions about different wines. While we didn’t try the food it look great and will definitely be back.
We were lucky enough to enjoy a full day here at my family's wedding party.
The staff were so attentive ,friendly and helpful with full knowledge of the wines and food they were serving . Fantastic food served on platters, the wedding cake was cut and displayed, courses came and went without any disturbance to the guests. Georgia the manageress who was leaving that night on maternity leave ,never stopped checking and chatting to everyone. Wonderful day had by everyone .thank-you so much you kept the day extra special. I would so recommend a visit even just for a glass of their wonderful wine selection.
My partner and I had a lovely selection of wines, with the orange Sabbia 2019 and the rose Vinho Verde particular highlights. In addition, the anchovies, mackerel, salami and cheese platter were all tasty, as were the Brew & Brownie-sourced brownie and Frangipan cake. Finally, the staff were friendly, welcoming and helpful with their advice on the wines, and the location had a nice ambience and aesthetic.
My partner and I have been back many times, and are still very pleased with the wines, and the food is getting better and better. Well worth a visit or several.
Lovely little wine bar, excellent selection. Was really looking forward to the cheeseboard from their online menu but they no longer do this. Made up for it though with a fantastic bigod English brie style cheese that was outstanding! Will definitely come back 😁
Attended as guests at a wedding reception
The food was lovely and the wine. The staff were lovely too, friendly and helpful. A special thanks to Georgia who escorted us to the taxi rank as we are not natives of York. Great venue, would certainly return when in York. Fab !
