You can't come to York and not visit this little gem of a place on Fossgate. By far the best breakfast we've had. It's hard to look past the incredible Turkish eggs, served with sourdough, sweet potato and a medley of incredible flavours. The potato hash side is also amazing. Every dish that came out looked amazing and really substantial portion sizes. It can get busy and there is often a queue ( they don't take bookings), but it's worth the wait. The service was great, very attentive staff despite them being super busy.
There is a bit of a wait for entry - with queues out of the door. But if you don't mind waiting 15 mins or so to be seated, you will NOT be disappointed. Lots of breakfast/brunch options on the menu; I went with a group of 5, and we all had something different, and each dish was delicious. Really friendly and welcoming staff - we had 5 suitcases between us, and despite the limited/cosy space, they were extremely accommodating and made sure we were comfortable.
Rise is a cozy café and brunch place in York. There is a few tables, a few bar style seatings and also a long share-style table. I guess it can get busy as it's a small place but when I visited it was quiet. There is some outside seating as well if the weather is appropriate. The menu has plenty of breakfast/ brunch options including veggie options. The staff are very friendly and helpful. It's nice to see the chef making the food. The coffee is delicious and appreciate them having a proper coffee machine. The food is home made and absolutely delicious, it arrived quickly as well. It's always nice to visit and support independent businesses. Definitely recommend for a nice relaxing brunch.
Delicious breakfast served throughout the day so not rushing to get there early. Definitely worth the trip.
Coffee was amazing which I know sounds easy but some people mess it up. Got the steak on special with a side of halloumi and mushrooms. Everything tasted delicious and the staff was really attentive
It was decent, but no means amazing.
Spanish latte tasted a bit odd, but the food filled a spot. Not huge portions considering you're paying £9 for a burger, but the actual bun was super tasty.
Decor & seating is very instagrammy.
Excellent brunch place, I cannot stress enough how good the food was, the eggs on avocado toast were my favourite pick without a doubt. The drinks were also amazing, especially the iced lattes, one of the best I've tried recently. I would definitely recommend coming here of you're looking for a brunch place, and most importantly brunch doesn't end at 12 like for many other places. Can't wait to make my way here again soon.
I cannot praise this place highly enough. The staff are friendly and helpful and the food is absolutely sensational. Between us we had the turkish eggs with chorizo and halloumi, eggs royale, tiramisu french toast and avocado toast, it was all delicious and beautifully presented on the plate. It was constantly busy which is always the sign of somewhere good but if you have wait for a few minutes outside don’t worry, it will definitely be worth the wait.
As expected, we are visiting and looked up best places for breakfast in York and this place showed up. And it did not disappoint.
Food is really good. Service is good also.
I'd recommend the Eggs benedict with mushrooms along with the potato Hash.
They are accommodating to dietary requirements.
They also have high chairs for kids should you need any.
The environment is good, and the attitude of the staff is also very good. But their sourdough bread is thin. Portion is not much. The sourdough bread and food at other York's brunch is bigger than them. I hope they can make food well, not for the so-called "net celebrity shop" gimmick.
Absolutely Amazing! Was a little intimidated by the queue, but it went down very quickly.
Would highly recommend!
The bamboo straws were a great touch also! 🙌🏼
Delicious food and drinks, strange decision to sit people next to strangers on one table. Bamboo straws are a great idea, much better than cardboard ones as they don’t go soggy or fall apart. I don’t usually like poached eggs but these were very tasty. Highly recommended.
Amazing brunch spot. Was very busy but worth the wait. Would recommend
Food was superb, everything tasted great and portions were as expected given the price and taste. Only had to queue for 10 mins to be seated.
As it was quite busy had to wait 30 mins for our food however we weren’t told it was going to be such a long wait so this would have been nice :)
Apart from this, an excellent brunch cafe, would definitely recommend if you’re in York!
Fab little cafe in york serving fresh food. Breakfast was lovely and they serve great tasting coffee. Definitely be back when next in York 👍🏻
It's a small brunch place that most likely you'll queue to get in, but it's so worth it. The food was top-notch. The only downside to it is the uncomfortable seating. Would highly recommend it!
First time visiting rise and what a nice welcome! We waited outside the door to be seated, water on the tables when seated and you order at the till. Really cute inside.
We ordered the Turkish Eggs and Lemon meringue French toast. Both amazing! They sell their Brunch Club T-shirts too which are really cool, I may have purchased… :) thank you Rise!
I’ve been meaning to come here since it opened! It’s a popular eatery and was busy even on a Tuesday! The staff were friendly and it was a welcoming atmosphere. We’d chosen our food and went up to the counter to order. The drinks arrived pretty quickly. The fruit smoothies were fresh and delicious! Love the bamboo straws with the little words! It brightens up your day! The food came not long after and we’re delicious and well presented!! Can’t wait to return to try out the other dishes! Lovely place to come for brunch!
Staff are very pleasant, and the brunch was to die for! I visit York a lot, but Rise will definitely become my stop each time I’m over!
