Cosy atmosphere, friendly staff and amazing food. Had a tamago don set and Osaka mixed juice, recommend both. Not too many places to sit so best to check if it's not busy in advance, reserve a table or take away
Just visited this little place and it was my first time trying Gyu Don, i tell you it was lovely! The service was phenomenal too, the lady gave me water as soon as I sat down and refilled my glass when it was empty. It’s a nice little place so it was very quiet, and i loved that kind of atmosphere!
Loved our meal there. The tonkatsu set was delicious. Very laid-back atmosphere and homely food and feel to it.
been to this cute little place twice and both times we have had amazing food! my boyfriend who is japanese said it tastes very authentic. the tonkatsu/chicken katsu is delicious and crispy! the chicken gyoza is so good! i had buta don and enjoyed it so much (picture is attached). i recommend the yog
First time trying Shiitakeya 🍄 A small family run restaurant. Very authentic Japanese taste. The chef made its own teriyaki sauce and ingredients are specifically picked. Highly recommended!

Very small like a secret jewel, Beef bowl is tender and perfectly cooked.
Soup is seasoned as all you just take it no extra things needed.
I recommend it a lot have been very fancy restaurants and they will love to have such well made beef.
Such a foodie gem in York with the most delicious meals! An intimate place to eat with only a few tables, the broth and miso soup was so delicious (along with the mains!) if you’re craving Japanese food, here is the place to go!
The owner was heartwarming. Not to mention the food was tasted fantastic. Stayed in York for two nights and we came to have lunch twice! Their Takoyaki is a must-try item! Delicious 😍
Fab service! Authentic food! Not too salty and love the homemade miso soup! Great options for vegan and veg! Def worth the visit for quality and service. Clean and relaxing atmosphere. Highly recommended! Love the way the tofu was cooked..very different from normal takeaway!
