Lovely place for a sit down while out for a dog walk in the beer garden
Great beer (I was on Taylor's Landlord), fantastic tapas and a great atmosphere. All of our group of 7 commented how much they'd enjoyed their visit.
Keep up the good work 👏👏
Tom (and family) have transformed The Nelson since taking over a year ago. A popular local pub serving a good selection of ales and wine. Reasonable priced with regular quiz nights, occasional bands and themed nights. Dog friendly and nice outside space.

Dog friendly village pub. Has some outdoor seating to the front on the grass verge. There is much more outdoor seating, some of it sheltered, to the rear in a fair sized beer garden. Car park to the side. Live music venue. Very smartly decorated inside, nicely done and the wallpaper in the ladies loo is very attractive. Friendly barman. The handpulled cask beers were Timothy Taylor's Landlord and Ossett Brewery's White Rat. Free dog treats available to keep the canine punters content. Recommended.
Excellent food and service booking probably essential, busy when we were there. Food cooked to perfection best Sunday lunch I've had in a while.
Excellent, tasty, well cooked tapas. Great service. Friendly, informal atmosphere.
Great day over Jubilee bank holiday! The Nelson offered a mouth watering barbecued burger with a beer to celebrate.
Can't wait to try their sunday lunch! It looks amazing! 🤤
Party of 5 on a Thursday lunchtime for 2 birthdays. From the moment we walked in we felt very welcome. Ordering drinks and food was no issue, even though they were busy. The food was excellent, said all 5 people, with different meals. Apparently the sticky toffee pudding is "one of the best". A compliment if ever there was one. Total cost was less than expected, so that was a bonus, as I was paying.
Can recommend but would advise ringing to book. The Lord Nelson is now on our favourites list.
Food was well worth the walk, good selection of drink, very friendly happy staff.
