Had a great day. Beautiful building and the staff were so helpful. Cafe helps revive you to carry on exploring. Well worth a visit.
I visited your lovely library today. What a bright and welcoming place! Thank you to the very helpful ladies on the reception desk for the information and directions. The people of York are very lucky to have such a wonderful resource.
I was enjoying a talk by Sara Paretsky yesterday, when I was taken ill. I want to thank the library staff who looked after me so well. Bless you❤️❤️❤️
A great area with a wide selection of children's books. Close to the cafe too for when they need a snack.
Just needs a little more room to sit and eat with them without blocking some of the book storage areas
Afraid we just popped in as it was raining outside but beautiful building with cafe and obviously lots of books! We crept around as there were a lot of people working and it did say quiet area.
50,000 books, free WiFi , free access to Ancestry. Com. Free access to online resources. Cafe on site, quiet area for study & room hire available. So plenty to keep you occupied
Visited York Explore Library and Archive today as part of Aesthetica Film Festival 2022. It was a lovely place with lifts inside and most of does not have stairs (if there are stairs there is a lift) or major ramps for accessibility. The first floor was beautiful! I will certainly return on my next trip to York.
Such a lovely library! The cafe space is so sunny and welcoming with excellent hot drinks and friendly staff who always make my day. Reading room upstairs is a great quiet work space. Always some new books to check out as well! So grateful for my local library:)
Very helpful staff. Was new to place and the library staff working -very patient and friendly. Good place with a lot of books . Can use internet for 2 hrs for free if ur a member. Plenty of knowledge resources here. Cafe inside the library.
Great quiet study room upstairs with dozens of books on York's history, some of which contain maps that are telling of the eras in which they were produced (or reproduced), including some before York expanded outside the walls, and labelling mentioning Roman walls within the mounds holding the current ones.
There's an archive available most days upstairs also, unfortunately in use whilst we were there.
Bathrooms seemed a little unkempt — out of toilet roll, pretty wet all over the floor.
-Lovely building
-Gift shop inside
-Friendly staff
-Cafe was closed on a Sunday
-Family and local archive section
Lots of books. The archive is fascinating. People can use computers.
There's a cafe inside, children are welcome.
Visit during November, 2022 for a quick browse. Well organised collection is a fine building. Staff were friendly and helpful.
