Service by staff was excellent. They were super busy, but they made sure everyone was seen to and managed to get the queue down quickly. Even though they were busy, they were all really friendly!
The food was fantastic. Really good portions and so much to choose from! š
We got there to find a long queue waiting to be seated š. We were waiting in the queue discussing whether to go and find another place to eat as we were told the approximate waiting time was 1/2 hour. The kind lady in front of us said it's worth the wait, so we stayed. Boy was she right, the food is amazingšš!

Iāve driven or walked past Robinsonās most days over the last 3 years and seen the queues, day in day out (except Wednesday as they are closed)
Can somewhere be this good to make people want to wait, rain or shine?
I was so intrigued that I was willing to queue, although I did tell my wife that if we arrived and there was a queue, weād just go somewhere else. Fortunately no queue however we still queued alone as the restaurant was full. Stupid me.
As with most trendy (and not so) places in York, staff are aloof. The lady that came out to give us our menus, presumably to speed things up, didnāt mention how long we could possibly be waiting for a table. After 15 minutes, my wife had to ask the question.
Iāll cut to the chase, we had all of 2 bacon rolls (hard to get wrong) Steak and eggs (they got this wrong - gristly steak and have my doubts wether it was actually sirloin, smoked salmon and scrambled eggs (very good) and a side of hash browns (ball shaped and very good) Coffee was outstanding so the only thing that wasnāt great was the steak.
Service was just okay, ambiance was good and had a nice vibe. Iād go again but just wouldnāt order the steak.
A local friend recommended Robinson and Iām so glad we came! Itās about 15m from the historic centre but a pleasant stroll for sure and in a pretty area full of cafes and independent shops. Very friendly staff, great coffee and delicious food from the fresh sourdough toast to pancakes stack.
This is my favorite store in York! Creamy mushrooms are my favorite! The attitude of the service staff is very good, and the food is plentiful and fresh. Hope they can do better!
My first visit & will be returning! Had a delicious tasty breakfast in pleasant comfy surroundings. Staff were friendly & polite. A lovely start to the day!
The brunch is superb and the waiters are very welcoming. Although I was only here for a day and a half, I came here every morning to eat. The second time , my phone ran out of battery and they were kind enough to lend me the charger and look for the socket. Everyone is very welcoming and polite and makes you feel warm and fuzzy.
And of course the food is delicious, especially the black pudding and creamy mushrooms!
All in all, if you're in York, don't miss this place. Eat and have fun on your trip!

I really enjoyed breakfast at Robinson's. I had green tea and the avocado on toast. It was amazing. Huge portion of avocado and the tomatoes on top was a nice touch.
It gets very busy here so expect to queue for a bit to get a table. There's lots on the menu. Others in our group had the pancakes and all looked great.
Pretty little cafe, very good staff and clear toilets.
I'd heard lots about these Pancakes and they didn't disappoint!! Have also had the Mexican Eggs on a previous visit which was also amazing!
My friends and I stayed over at the Ebor suites Easter weekend and on the Monday went to Robinsons. It was literally over the road! I believe it was the only cafe open on the street that day and it filled up very quickly. Luckily my friends and I got a seat. There was 6 of us we had a comfortable table with fresh water brought over to us straight away (without asking) which was amazing. All the staff was amazing and treated everyone equal. They was helpful and smiley. And they had a good team. The food was amazing. I also had avocado in an avocado bowl!! š„ such a lovely touch. My friend had the croque Madame and that was huge and she said it was amazing. I definitely want to go back again.
