We had a wonderful seafood lunch today, made all the more wonderful by the friendly, knowledgeable and very kind gentleman who served our table.
The food was tasty and very well presented, the specials menu was classic but inventive; one of those places that manages to take canon flavour combinations and successfully twist them just enough to make them feel fresh and intriguing but still unpretentious. Just what my Italian family were craving.
While the food was interesting and well executed, the real star was the service; friendly and absolutely impeccable. It was honestly a joy to watch someone do their job so well, seemingly so effortlessly.
We also had extra accessibility needs - our family member is a wheelchair user - and all the staff were immediately warm, welcoming and made us feel at ease right away. After days of awkward restaurant experiences (where often staff didn't know how to treat or behave around someone with a disability) being treated with dignity and kindness at Sapori was so refreshing and made all the difference.
It's not easy to find somewhere that makes you feel at home and special at the same time! Thank you for making our last day in York so memorable. I hope to come back again when I'm next in town and I'll be recommending you to local friends too. Special thanks to the gentleman who was looking after us so well.

The best Italian restaurant in York👌Food are cooked and served to perfection. Staffs are kind, very friendly and happy people. Would definitely recommend for both locals and tourists. A must try Sardegna food and drinks.
What a lovely little place! 1st time and York and popped in Sapori trying to find a quiet place for a relaxing atmosphere as we were with our 6 year old. Sat at the first table (just as you walk in). So cozy, chilling, lovely music. The whole atmosphere is just right. Staff is amazing too. Friendly guys trying to please you. There's also second floor (more spacious). We didn't have a meal. Just coffee, wine and cakes! Let me just say: you've got to try their orange cake!!! The best dessert l had for a looooong time! Thank you! We will come again! (from Elena and the family)🍊

We booked a table for breakfast at short notice, they had no issues accomodating us. From the outset, we were made to feel very welcome and the setting was very comfortable too.
I ordered a caprese focaccia and asked for bacon to be added. The service was quick and the food was excellent. I was really pleased with the coffee too, the breakfast like a little taste of Italy with a British twist. We thoroughly enjoyed our breakfast and look forward to trying the evening menu when we next visit
Expect a warm welcome here! The staff are genuinely lovely and make for a really great atmosphere. The setting of this Sardinian restaurant is so picturesque, based on the famous shambles Street in York. The venue is small but perfectly formed. I was lucky to have a seat by the window enjoying lovely views over the street outside. There is a small but adequate list of drinks, with Sardinian drinks featured alongside other well know Italian drinks. The menu is Italian. Heavily influenced by traditional Sardinian cuisine. The staff are perfectly attentive and will give you their recommendation and talk you through the specials. Portion sizes are perfect and the food is delicious - full of flavour and perfectly seasoned. I had three excellent dishes and thoroughly enjoyed my time here. Recommend for couples and small groups. I look forward to returning soon.
Food is simply brilliant and portion are very generous. We had an wonderful time at Sapori. If you are visiting York, you must not miss this lovely Italy restruant in the Shambles.
Eating at Sapori was a comfortable and enjoyable experience. I would definitely recommend this place when looking for authentic Italian dishes.
The caprese was good, although the large serving we ordered felt quite small for 9 pounds. The vegetarian carbonara and panna cotta were absolutely delicious. I was quite impressed with the quality of these classic Italian dishes.
The waiting staff could do with a bit more experience in order to make guests feel a bit more at ease, but there weren't any inconveniences.
Overall, the place has a genuine and authentic atmosphere. It feels a bit newish still, but I'm sure that will disappear over time.
Amazing location at the Shambles, brilliant starters and desserts, however we were slightly let down by the mains but the lovely staff took care of that.

Can always trust an Italian place to do good coffee, and this is no exception. Staff were brilliant, the place was clean and a pleasant place to be, and not overpriced like a lot of other businesses on the Shambles.

Had the best ever mocha at this little gem. It had five layers of pure delight! The waiter on hand (Monday 24th July) was very good. Service was excellent. The mocha was so good that I had to try the food. And that was delicious too. Head to this place when you're in York!
Nice restaurant in the shambles. Very small seating area downstairs although there is a upstairs seating area.
Staff were very polite and attentive.
Food was very good and arrived at our table in good time.
The desserts were some of the best we have had, the portion size was larger than many other restaurants.
5 mains desserts and a bottle of wine plus a few extra drinks £130, really great value for the money.
I only arrived in York yesterday and I was looking for somewhere for a nice dinner. Sapori came to the rescue. Located in the heart of the historic Shambles, it has tremendous character, to say nothing of the delicious food. It's clear they make everything from fresh ingredients and the dishes are simple and tasty as a result. The staff are very friendly and considerate. Well recommended!
Lovely staff! The food is around 4/5 stars though. Seafood linguine was cooked with too much tomato sauce. However, the lamb and desserts were lovely!
Beautiful Italian restaurant with the delicious food and friendly atmosphere. Based in the heart of the Shambles in York is a must stop. We had breakfast there and all was delicious. Best espresso coffee I ever had in England 🇬🇧.
