Nice pub to relax in.handy for the racecourse dog friendly. Friendly staff would recomend.
a really good local pub making everyone welcome, even Spurs fans !!! :))
Run by a husband and wife team with many years of experience, the Knavesmire is a well run pub. They always have a varied selection of craft beers, served by an enthusiastic bunch of regular bar staff. Lots of local clubs hold weekly get togethers including, runners, walkers, cyclists, triathletes (mad) and even a ukulele group. DJ's and the odd live band add to the experience. Having moved to the area fairly recently, I've had a warm welcome from the staff, locals and Stu and Lyndsey.
Partner and i were here for an engagement party! Very accommodating! Reasonable function hire cost and thoroughly enjoyable evening ! Many thanks x
This is a great pub run smoothly and happy. family/dog friendly X Loved it
The best local any man could wish for, brilliant landlord and lady, live sports, great beer, fantastic nibbles, dog friendly, locals even friendlier and a brilliant team behind the bar.
Great beers and great atmosphere, very busy on a Saturday afternoon
Late for the Poker but just in time to watch the Ukulele Band practice... how's that for a double bill on a Tuesday night?!?!
Amazing pub thank you for the hospitality xxxxxxxx
Stu and Lyndsey also have the Best Darts Team ever and look after us extremely well. A massive thank you from all the team.
First time in yesterday, not the last. Really friendly
Great atmosphere and vibe, recently went to the charity event, fab night!!!
We were visiting from the Midlands, having run a parkrun on Saturday. All I can say is we had one of the best breakfasts we've had after a run. And the service was excellent!
Proper pub selling beer, spuds and nuts. No pickled eggs mind!
Didn't eat, just drank. Great congenial bar staff whom obviously enjoy their job.
Proper pint with a decent head.
Champion!
Fantastic little find. A very friendly welcome, a suntrap of a beer garden and a great selection of drinks. We will definitely be returning on our next day out in York.
Very nice pub. Great after park runs and they have a really good poker set up
Amazing day at the races with work colleagues. Great but limited drinks and steep in price.
Nice pub very big close to race track. Outside seating reasonable priced drinks
Fabulous food, great selection of beers, excellent prices and a cozy venue. Extra points for not assuming my pronouns! ❤️🏳️🌈
Great pint of porter and delicious pizza - nicely set out outside space too - an enjoyable evening at The Knavesmire Public House
Ideal location for the races. Be aware there can be queues.
Very nice looking pub. Quick service and fantastic selection of beers.
Great pub, though very large so can sometimes feel a little empty.
The food is amazing though and very reasonably priced. Great selection of authentic tapas, and the cheese board is a must!
Looking forward to this being my new local when we move into the area in May. Friendly staff, decent drinks and very very reasonable prices. Love seeing wuffs in the pub. Not just the odd one, loads. And never any bother or barking. Feels like a proper homely place.
Update. So this became our local pub after we moved in. Stu and Lyndsay (Hope I've spelt that right) both made us very welcome. As did all of the staff actually. Love just popping in. I put a request in to stock a drink I could only find in 1 other bar in York and Stu happily obliged and then charged me far less for the same drink.
We popped in the night of the Jubilee last year, the place was packed, no tables free. Stu invited my wife and I to joining his group and introduced us to his friends and family.
It's been 20+ years since I have had a local pub I like calling in to, and whilst I don't go down the pub every night for dinner now (married and kids) It's nice finally having a local pub again. More, people remembering my (unusual) name after the first meeting.
Atmos lovely, beer patio is pleasant on a warm evening. Cheap prices for a city. Food is just lovely, great selection of tapas (although, if they did a Sunday roast, we'd probably be there every weekend my wife wasn't working)
Just need to see if they'll get Caffreys on for me now 😂😂😂
6 out of 5 stars
Great character pub.. a welcome breakfast after parkrun.
Quite busy Saturday morning after parkrun but staff were friendly and breakfast was nice.
For me the best racecourse in Britain. Unlike Cheltenham and Ascot, you do not get ripped off for food and drink . Viewing is tremendous , plenty of variety on food and drink. The racecourse is beautifully maintained.
Super pizzas, and tapas. Four people eat for £50 easily. Friendly staff, family friendly and **lots** of space. Nice wood burning stove in one of the rooms. Going regularly 😁
