Myself, partner, mum, dad and our 2 year old ate here today for the first time for Mother’s Day and wow the food and service was amazing! Of course we all had 3 courses and by the end we were stuffed! A lovely village pub and the staff are lovely. No waiting for food, nothing too much trouble and the portions are great. We will be back soon to try your evening menu! Xx

We stayed for three nights in Suite 1 and it was cute, roomy and had very luxurious modern updates. The cooked English breakfasts were delicious. The food overall was really good. The hosts were friendly and professional. As an American, I found the village to be exactly what we think as an English country village. The accommodations at the Star Inn were so good they enhanced our trip.

We went for a family dinner today. Sunday roast, good choice of meat, loads of veg and no overload of potatoes, good sized yorkshire pud and gravy. Beware the meat is smoked so the beef for example is on the rarer side. I had beef and between us one of each of the other meats, lamb and turkey. All were tender and full of flavour. Good choice of condiments, horseradish, mint sauce etc friendly attentive staff and owners. Variety of puddings.

Lovely! A great place to stay if you don't like the hustle and bustle of the nearby seaside towns. We were in Suite 1, a generous space, with a double bed, single bed and sofa, plus wardrobe, full length mirror, dressing table and chair, good sized TV, a hairdryer and a well stocked hospitality tray. 2 large windows overlook the pretty beer garden, with windows opening wide (pleasant for the current heat) Carpet lovely and thick too. The ensuite is great, very clean and follows through with the cleanliness of the room. Hosts, friendly, showed us to room, explained breakfast and dining options. Pub modern/country mix, clean and bright, good selection of drinks. Had a couple of ciders outside in the sun before ordering food, Gorgeous! I ordered the pear, walnut and blue cheese pizza for my main, along with a crisp fresh side salad, packed full of crunchy peppers and red onions. Literally one of the best meals, absolutely delicious. Partner had a decent doorstep of thick gammon, with all the trimmings, great portion sizes too! We also had generous bowls of rum and raisin ice cream in our room afterwards. Went down a treat!! Beds comfy, even overlooking the beer garden, all was quiet for 10.30pm, so peaceful, can hear a pin drop! Very accommodating with an early breakfast too, a big full English! Partner has huge appetite so ordered extra, was not a problem. Oh and only those water lovers out there will understand this, but the iced water was great. I'm not normally a tap water person, but this stuff was great. (If you know, you know) Thank you sooo much. Would highly recommend ❤️

A wonderful homely experience. Delicious food - local rump steak was beautifully done. Proper steak and ale pie. Kids had home made fish fingers - traditionally done sides. Great local ale on tap - and a local atmosphere with friendly staff and regulars - but welcoming enough to a family of four on holiday. A very much recommended country pub.

At 48 hours notice The Star fed and watered 16 of us from a varied menu. I didn’t hear anything but positive comments from anyone. My own choice of red pepper and tomato soup followed by steak and ale pie was delicious. Many thanks.

Stayed in this dog friendly pub, lovely spacious room, clean room with tea & coffee facilities, safe off road car parking. Loved the light up mirror on the dressing table that was very handy. The owners and staff are big dog lovers too. Good choice of freshly cooked breakfast. Friendly atmosphere, nothing was too much trouble. Lunchtine and evening Meals available at the Star Inn, the pizzas were very tasty, great drinks choices at the bar too. Great choice of walks right from the pub doorstep, brilliant bridlepaths to walk along. Scarborough only 15 miles away.

My husband and I stayed 8 nights at this lovely Inn with our dog. The owners and  staff couldn't have worked harder to give us a pleasant stay. From the gorgeous freshly cooked breakfasts to the brilliant spacious room, this was an extremely pleasant place to stay while going for fabulous walks in the Yorkshire Moors, and the gorgeous Cleveland Way. The place is under a new management and had a brilliant atmosphere, both warm and welcoming. The owners and staff are clearly dog lovers. We had breakfast with our dog every morning, rather than leaving him alone in the room as in most dog friendly places. Thank you so much, it's been a lovely break and we (including our dog) felt utterly spoiled!

We stayed overnight, the room smelt so fresh and clean when we arrived. The room lovely and comfy. Bathroom had shampoo, conditioner, bodywash, hand soap, body moisture and sanitary equipment which I think is so thoughtful for any woman caught out. The staff lovely and friendly, really welcoming. We had a great stay and the bonus of being dog friendly is brilliant too 👏

Beautiful place, beautiful village. Great staff. The suite was more than ample. Nice and modern had everything you needed. Quite modern. Couldn’t argue for the money. Very clean. Will definitely stay again. The only downsides, there flooring quite creaky and few bangs from the toilet and kitchen from downstairs. Apart from that. Fantastic experience. Shame it was in monsoon season.

Not been in for ages, visited for a family event Staff all friendly and attentive. Had buffet food which was excellent. Couldn't fault any of it. Lovely pub, clean and tidy - just what a village pub should be. Beer prices are reasonable, and good selection.

Welcoming and quick check in with help carrying bags. Immaculate and large room with fantastic amenities such as good WiFi, fantastic tea and coffee facilities and power shower. Everything was spotless and the breakfast was perfection. Staff are so lovely and helpful and really sweet with our 1 year old daughter. We even enjoyed seeing the Turkeys that live on site. Worth every penny and then some and we will certainly return and recommend. Thankyou

Went here for a sit down meal and was very pleasantly surprised at how good it was. Well presented and well cooked starters and main courses. Had a steak that was cooked to perfection as much as rare is cooked. The restaurant itself was bright, well presented and comfortable. We had six in our party of folk and they all enjoyed there meals. Staff were friendly and helpful and not overbearing like some places I have been. Would highly recommend a meal here.

We didn't stay overnight so this review is purely based on my bar and food experience. The staff and owners are very friendly and service was first class. I love it when the staff remember you and just ask same again, great i will bring it to you, that for me is someone who enjoys their job and it makes my night out more enjoyable. The bar is well stocked the seating is really good as is the decor, which is a nice mix of tradition and modern. There were 4 of us and we didn't book but luckily someone had cancelled, I am so glad they did because not one of us had a bad thing to say about the food, It was nicely presented, hot and most of all beautiful. In fact i would say my lamb dish was spectacular. It was nice to see a good mix of children and adults all having a good time, The landlord even put a child quiz on for the kids which i have never seen before but they loved it. I would highly recommend it and we will be certainly be visiting it more often.

Sublime in every way. Starter, main, desert and drinks, all top tier, quality over quantity (but there's enough in the quantity sense too!). Staff all friendly and helpful. I'm only staying for one night and in a lot of places, this makes you somewhat expendable, like you don't matter because its only one night, but here you feel as welcome as if you lived here permanently. The room is lovely, very cosy and had everything you could need (including a powerful shower, which you don't get everywhere), all round 10/10 and I will certainly be staying here again when I venture up this way. I would even recommend this to my nan (and she's the most picky woman in the world). Top draw establishment.
