Had some time to kill and this was right by the Shambles market. They've created a lovely ambiance and a very beautiful craft ale poured for me (very smooth). Great music picks too. Will be back if I have time once more in York.
Popped in whilst on a Business Trip, Thomas and the team were really friendly and helpful. A great line up of ales and taps. One of my favourite places in York to visit, very spacious (but they have some incredible views on the 1st and 2nd floors too for sunset pics.
Very familiar with Thornbridge having visited their Bakewell tap room many times with YoYo the beer monkey, stumbled across this place and stopped for a quick drink.
Good selection of beers, not just Thornbridge brews, friendly welcoming service and a well done interior made for a lovely little stop. We'd do the same again if we were in town 😊🍻
A great pub in the centre of York with a fantastic atmosphere, comfortable seating, an extensive choice of drinks and calming background music and lighting. We thoroughly enjoyed our visit and will definitely return to try the food next time!
Top notch craft beer venue near the Shambles York. Set over three floors with nice views onto the market square. The pizzas are fantastic and freshly prepared and cooked in the kitchen which can be viewed on the first floor. Great selection of kegged and cask beers. Can't wait for a repeat visit. Totally relaxed atmosphere. 5*
We were visiting York, had drinks here on Monday and drinks and Pizza yesterday. The three floor building has a beautiful bar on the ground floor. The other two floors have lots of seating and are very bright owing to the floor to ceiling windows which look over The Shambles market. The bar is very relaxing, good background music, excellent beers and wines. We had Pizza which was very good, great base and topping.
Great Thornbridge Beer themed City Center bar. Great selection of Thornbridge & guest ales. Over 3 floors with amazing views over The Shambles Market & York Minster.
Great for a stein of beer 🍺. Pizzas can be ordered huge to share.
Although good quality could be more generous with toppings. Vegan option more like a flat bread.
Nicely decorated, clean and reasonably priced. We arrived early evening, so the wait for food & the bar was very short. Pizza was very nice, perfectly cooked and good quality ingredients. Great selection of lots of different types of alcoholic drink. From upstairs there’s a great view over lively Shambles Market.
Simply a great bar with views over the market. Get there early if you want a great view. Brilliant staff and atmosphere. Enjoy. M
Serving a variety of beers from a local brewery and delicious food, the Market Cat is a great place for a pint and a view (if you can manage to snag a table on the top floor).
Sitting right at the corner of the Shambles Market, this is a great location and a recommended pub for people watching and enjoying a pint. It's not quiet but that's why you come here.
This is a great place, whether you’re out in the day or evening! They’ve done a very good job of renovating a boring 60’s building into something that feels a lot nicer on the inside! With views over the Shambles Market too.
Staff were very friendly and helpful, helping us select a very nice Rum.
We decided to go for a cheeky pizza 🍕 which was very tasty (Americano) making it the perfect mid evening snack, reasonably priced too!
Doorman was friendly and polite too.
Friendly and smiley staff, big selection of beer from both Thornbridge themselves and guests. Around 6 cask ales on for my visit plus plenty keg. Beautifully decorated with lots of wood panelling. I didn't eat sadly, but the menu had plenty of lovely sounding pizzas that looked good going to others tables. Looked good value too. If you can manage the stairs it's definitely worth a visit. The ground floor was quite busy and toilets are up stairs.
Great space for people watching. Can't fault choice of beers gins wines plenty of seats. Food limited to pizzas but they are really good 👍
Beautiful building that's been done out so nicely. I remember it being Precinct selling jeans back in the early 90s. Atmosphere is lovely, staff too. Clearly enjoy their jobs. Particular mention to Thomas and George who have a sound knowledge of their beers and are willing to spend time with customers. Shout out also to the lovely doorman (Sat 2/12) who had to endure that bitter cold but still readily welcomed us. Keep up the good work guys.
Great space, amazing pizzas, and amazing service and company . Cheers to the employees!
