Absolutely beautiful hot breakfast! All tasted really good and quality ingredients. Nice pot of yorkshire tea too! Not much waiting, lovely waitress and the building is absolutely stunning! Such character! We will be back when we come back to York for sure!

As the Christmas market was on we were worried there would not be any tables but luckily they had one. The waitress was lovely and friendly. We ordered breakfasts and they were happy to accomodate with extras and how our eggs were cooked even though they were very busy. The food was hot, tasted lovely and we really enjoyed it. Was definately value for money. We did not feel rushed to leave. If we are ever in York again we would certainly visit again. Big thumbs up from us.

Love the old building and the windows. We tried yorkshire pudding here and fell in love. The mussels were great. The service was perfect. I would eat here again.

Last visit was probably 5-6 years ago. Love this kind of old style beams building. Service was quick. Roast beef meals were just the right amount. Really enjoyed it. Will be good if they have got children's menu with prices on. Overall, really enjoyed it !! Wish I can go back soon !!

Stopped in for a brew and a doughnut with the family. Nice brew. Girls had hot chocolate, and the missus had a latte with a doughnut. The owner and staff were very helpful and friendly. I took some photos of the building inside and out. This place has a lot of vibes....I loved it

Gert and Henry’s has the most perfect location in the middle of the market, a stones throw from Parliament Street in York. Some establishments would take advantage of this and charge an arm and a leg for precious little, yet we enjoyed a relaxed brunch, each with a main course, a coffee and, somewhat later, a tea, for around £13 each including a tip. if I was being picky, I wouldn’t have minded my bread being a little thicker and scrambled egg perhaps a little more runny, but that’s a personal thing and it was decent food at a very acceptable price. What’s more, the Guide Dogs in our party were accepted without question, the staff were friendly and helpful, and we never felt rushed away from our table despite taking our time. The complimentary doughnuts brought with our tea towards the end were also a pleasant and welcome surprise. Overall it was a pleasant and affordable spot to while away a few hours whilst enjoying a perfectly acceptable brunch, and I suspect I will be back.

Traditional food in an old Tudor building (the smaller side dates back to the 14th c.). No waiting, no reservation and fast service. The food was hot and heads up Americans --the tap water comes with ice! Located just off The Shambles & the outdoor market. Best visited by walking.

Three things that make this special. 1 it’s on Jubber Gate (and I would love that as an address), 2 the building is superb - history in a nutshell and 3 the most superb home cooked food. Just wonderful. Oh and a 4 superb friendly service. Really commend.

Went York for the day stopped off here for lunch (said Sunday dinner so why not) 😁 bit outdated inside but kinda went with the charm and character of the building. Friendly and inviting, didn't have to wait to long to get served and the meal itself was very nice lots of meat and gravy with roasts and veg on the side. Really enjoyed it would recommend and go again.

enjoyed a nice cooked breakfast. very welcoming and professional staff. prices were ok. Situated in an old building so there are steps to different floor heights, if you are at all unsteady.
