We were served promptly by a lovely young lady who organised our drinks while we chose from the menu. Our food arrived quickly and was hot. Our plates were cleared and we were offered the dessert menu. The bill was sorted and they were happy with the voucher code we used.
Thanks for providing the vegan pizza for the York vegan activists yesterday. They were really great and would highly recommend them. �

I’ve sampled Pizza Express in many locations but I have to say the experience at Sampson Square in York was exceptional. We were made to feel so very welcome the moment we walked in the door and service was quick and great. We will definitely return to this particular Pizza Express again and again due to this great experience. Thank you to all the staff for giving us such a great evening

Second year on the bounce we've had Alex looking after us and once again she delivered an outstanding service.
Being a large party on a busy December Saturday night it takes someone extra special to offer such excellent service, and Alex didn't miss a beat. She was attentive to the young kids as well as us big kids and overall made for a very enjoyable and relaxed evening for us all. Thanks again Alex, we'll see you next year if not before!
Me and my girlfriend came on the 21st of November 2023 and both agree we have never service like it . Our waiter Artur was amazing , he seated us straight away and was very accommodating. When we ordered I asked it was possible to not have the honey mustard with the dough balls and straight away he offered me other things I could have that I didn’t even see on the menu , and the same for a pizza I ordered . He even offered to take a photo of us and couldn’t possible do anything more to help . The food was also amazing can’t recommend any more . And if you have Artur your definitely in good hands .
We booked a family meal for 16 people travelling from all around the country and I can’t praise Alice our server more highly. From the moment we arrived she made us feel welcome and looked after us with drinks while we waited for the rest of the group. We had preordered our food and it all arrived together about 15-20 mins after we sat down - food was delicious and service was excellent

Ordered via deliveroo. Food came quickly, was very tasty and still hot. I worry about ordering the thin pizzas as they can cool quite quickly but was fine. The calamari travelled very well which was a pleasant surprise. Would order again
Had an absolutely delicious pizza here yesterday; bottom just crispy enough, nice fluffy edges, service attentive but not invasive. Perfect! They might not have the beautiful interior of the Lendal branch, but the staff front and back of house are superior (although in the Lendal manager's defence, he is excellent). Thank you!
Great location in York. It’s quite a small restaurant with jazz pictures on the wall. Go upstairs for wonky floors and a sense of the old building. We had lunch which was quickly served, hot & tasty. Artur served us who was a charming character who engaged with my step daughter which added to the lunch.
We visited for the first time today after the theatre and were wonderfully surprised by both the service & food alike! The team took the care to send through food for our daughter speedily (nothing worse than a hangry child in a restaurant!) and ours wasn’t far behind. Clearly freshly made and extremely tasty. Team were friendly and welcoming without being overbearing, I would have said honestly this was more of an independent style experience rather than what we are used to with chain restaurants and was hugely appreciated not to feel pressured during our visit. Considering how busy it was, tables were cleared fast and the place looked & smelt lovely. We’ll definitely recommend to others, thank you!

We went the for lunch with a couple of friends and were positively surprised with the quality of food. Pizza came very fast and Alice- our waitress was very nice and helpful.

The staff were lovely, so this comment is not about them at all, but Pizza Express as a chain. I have been to 2 different restaurants now and have to eat gluten free as I have coeliac disease. The menu says that there are 2 GF bases that can be ordered for pizza, but the classic base seems to be the the only one available. It is good there is a GF offer, but it's tiny when compared to the other bases so is rather disappointing and costs the same as a larger one.
Can this be sorted out as my choices are limited as it is!
