Stopped for our first time at Cawood park and where normally we would eat in, we actually ate every night in this place. The food is excellent, high class restaurant quality. Staff are brilliant and it's a lovely chic little place to eat. Definitely worth a visit.

We had tea on a Saturday night in Mrs Bs, every course was served to an amazing standard, couldn’t fault anything. Made to feel very welcome by all the staff and was kindly invited into the large function room by the bar and restaurant manager to watch the live act they had on for the evening!

From the outset, a very warm welcome from Liam as we entered the pub who presented me with the best choice of non- alcoholic beers I’ve seen in any pub/restaurant. A warm and vibrant, cosy atmosphere. The warm welcome continued as we were shown to our table. Both of the young waitresses were lovely - efficient, super friendly and up for a laugh and who would have guessed that for one of them, it was there first job as a waitress? We didn’t know quite what to expect from a ‘Yorkshire Tapas’, but we were all bowled over by every dish. Delicious flavours from pub classics to some bold combinations. We chose: Crispy potato layered cake, Flank steak, Pork belly, chicken and leek pie, venison scotch egg, fish and chips, prawns, Hake loin, scallops and everyone delivered a wow! We will definitely return when we visit my brother and sister in law. Wishing you every success, you deserve it!

Wow, what a gem of a restaurant! We were staying just south of York for a mini break and we found this awesome country pub after a quick search on Google Maps. We inadvertently stumbled across one of the best restaurants we'd ever been to. The food was absolutely to die for. I'm just back at my hotel and I'm still day dreaming over the gravy served with the ballotine of rabbit. And the cottage pie that came with it....oh my god...it was heaven. I would've licked the plate clean if I could. The chef is a genius. The staff told us he trained in a Michelin starred restaurant and I can well believe it. And the best bit...the value. Two courses and and soft drink came to £30 each....for a fine dining experience!!! If this restaurant was near where I lived I'd be there for every special occasion going. Our waitress was so friendly and cheerful and the chef even popped over to say hi, and happily gave me some gravy secrets. Please support this amazing new chef and team. They deserve to do well. A cosy, friendly pub with fine dining flavour sensation food at down to earth prices.

Lovely, recently refurbished pub. Tried the new tapas menu. Enjoyed by all the party. My only feedback was, as a vegetarian I didn't feel like the veggie tapas options made up a full meal. They felt more like sides (especially the broccoli). A veggie stew, ratatouille, veggie pie or something more substantial would have been a nice option

Stayed here on the campsite as working up in Selby this week and found a little gem of a place.Friendly staff and locals, food was lovely and great choice of drinks, initially we stayed for 1 night but after sampling the hospitality we booked for a further 2 nights, we loved the place. Clean campsite with spacious pitches, quiet at night, the toilet block was clean and warm with a heater, rare in alot of campsite toilet blocks in winter. Great value for money with the electric hookup, would we stay here again....most definitely so if you're staying up this way visiting Selby and looking for a campsite with a great pub, this is the place.

This is a fabulous country pub and if I was able to give it more stars, I would. If this was closer to home, we would be here all of the time and we would probably be the size of a house. We stumbled upon the pub through a quick search for nearby food places to the Premier Inn nearby and it was such a wonderful, flavourful meal with lovely friendly staff. I opted for the burger which was really tasty, especially the beef with cheese combination and the triple cooked chips are probably worth coming in for on their own. Beautifully crispy and piping hot when they arrived. My fella opted for the rabbit ballotine as he hadn't tried rabbit before and although it looks small, it came with a cottage pie side. The gravy was especially delicious (homemade stock with port and wine from the secrets we managed to find out from the chef) and the potato topping on the pie was creamy with a glorious cheesy flavour. We opted for puddings too (apple Tarte tatin and lemon meringue pie) and we ate them before we could take a picture 😂 The pub itself is a good size with free parking at the back and an accessible entrance. We did phone ahead to book but as it's midweek it wasn't necessary. I honestly don't know why it wasn't absolutely packed, because it was stunning and I can't recommend this place enough!

Taken over by new owners, serving yorkshire tapas. It was the first weekend of food service, and we were very impressed! We started with a few dishes, and asked for the the menu back to order more! Ordered double of the beef and dumplings, as they were that good. Halloumi fries best we've had, please bottle and sell that gravy on the Yorkshires! Service was brilliant, take cash to tip, we felt awful we didn't have any! Can't wait to come back!!!

We visited the Castle last night with friends. On arrival we were made to feel welcome and seated straight away , on a busy Saturday Evening. We ordered wine and food , each dish was amazing we had Garlic mushrooms , Prawns , Halloumi , and venison scotch eggs , stew and dumplings. Pork Belly. Cheese and biscuits 😋 and the special dessert rhubarb in Yorkshire pudding . We were all impressed with every dish . Along with the decor , nice lighting with candles and been warm next to a lovely fire we had a lovely evening. I can't not mention the 2 young waitresses who were so attentive and had a laugh with us , and of course the chef Ash and Liam who came to check if everything was ok thank you we can't wait to return . Angelo & Andrea ,

A recently taken over, beautifully refurbed country pub and restaurant in Cawood, south of York, the Castle Inn is an absolute pleasure to visit. The new owner has a fabulous eye for style and detail, even down to the table numbers and table 'reserved' signs! The restaurant exudes a welcoming, warm country-pub vibe, with subtle fabrics and furnishings and the all-important low-lighting to create the perfect dining ambience. Spoilt for choice by the new Yorkshire tapas menu, we opted on our first visit for the Beef & Onion Stew with Dumplings, the Venison Scotch Egg with wholegrain mustard dip (this is surely going to be one of THE best-sellers?!), Half Pint Prawns in a Brandy Yoghurt Marie Rose Sauce with Anchovy Toast and the Fish, Chips & Mushy Peas. Completely stuffed by the end, having shared and eaten every morsel—and not by nature dessert people—we were tempted to try a Seasonal Crumble (on this occasion, winter berries) and Custard and the Yorkshire Pudding with Stewed Rhubarb and Clotted Cream. WOW! The puds almost out-shone the mains! Delicious flavours, beautifully cooked and presented, with the dishes coming as and when ready, meant we could dine in leisurely fashion, enjoy our drinks and each dish as it came, without feeling remotely rushed as you so often do in restaurants where they can't seem to wait to get your table back. This is definitely tapas with a Yorkshire topping! Highly recommended, and so much so, we're booked to return next week and are already arguing over which dishes to choose next! (Photos don't do justice to how gorgeous everything was - and the fish and chips was attacked so quickly, some of it had gone before I got a photo. The mushy peas were on another level, by the way - delicious flavour and for those who are mushy pea averse, give them a go. You won't regret it!)

What a lovely little country pub! Stumbled across it whilst looking at a new house in Cawood. The young female behind the bar was very polite and friendly. Whilst we didn’t stay long it made a lasting impression on us. They serve food and the menu looking good value for money. We will be eating here soon regularly as we bought the house and it will be our new local. Can’t wait! Pour me another Guinness.

Stayed on the campsite. Bar, food and staff highly recommended. We only stayed 1 night whilst passing through to the North. Village was lovely with a tea rooms serving fresh breakfast, a bakery and provisions shop. An interesting walk around Cawood. We were pleased to have stumbled across this lovely stopover.

What a treasure of a place! Dog friendly, flat camping pitches, perfect for our Motorhome without chocks. The most delightful staff you can ever hope to meet. Good beer and great fresh, home cooked food. Special thanks to Sam and Dani, who made us so welcome. We will be back for sure 😊
